Story

Award winning photographer Benjamin Porter leads small groups on trips to Asia & Latin America, focusing on food and photography. Fluent in Spanish, he first visited South America in 1975 and Asia in 1978 and he remains fascinated with both parts of the world. The idea for Small Footprint Tours spawned from his passion for cooking and documentary photography. The trips are designed to leave barely a “small footprint” wherever they visit, in order to blend in with the local culture and capture truly unique images.

You do not need to be a photographer to join the tour; you can bring a point and shoot camera, a sketchbook, or travel unencumbered. Cooking classes with local chefs are offered to learn local recipes and enjoy wonderful cuisine.

Benjamin has spent years traveling the planet. He selects the destinations for his tours based on cultural richness and visual beauty. A collection of his black and white images titled "Bolivia" will be published soon.

I absolutely loved my trip to Myanmar with Small Footprint Travels! Benjamin Porter put together a fascinating trip to a truly spectacular country which included an inside view of how people lived in ancient times and what their lives are like today. We visited some of the most architecturally beautiful temples, landscapes and sights imaginable. Each and every day of the tour took us to new destinations that were completely different from the ones before it. The people of Myanmar are extremely friendly and we had the opportunity to visit their villages and observe traditions, craftsmanship and lifestyles that have been passed down for centuries. Our Burmese tour guide knew exactly where to take us to give our group a flavor of the countryside and people. One couldn't ask for a friendlier, more organized or enthusiastic tour operator than Benjamin!

The tour was excellent from beginning to end.  Lots of personal attention from Benjamin - an excellent group of people on the tour.  I was not interested in photography but all of us who were not taking photos were accommodated and not made to feel left out.
We had good food and the cooking class was a highlight as was Began and the boat trip overnight. The tour was quite varied and I would recommend it to anyone.  The age range was 24 to 79 and it fit together quite well.  I can't wait to take another Small Footprint Tour!

I cannot thank Benjamin (Small Footprint Travels) enough for my fabulous experience in Myanmar. I usually plan and do my own trips, but as I was researching Myanmar, I realized that I would need assistance from a travel agency in country and I was at a loss to find the Right one. 
Benjamin was able to facilitate gettting me to the best agency that followed my agenda precisely and worked with me on the details and facilitated a seamless trip. Everything was taken care of with my input.
I thought that Myanmar would be exceptional, and it was even better than I had hoped. This was My Very Best Trip ever, thanks to Benjamin. I would love to return to Burma.
