This credit union was happy to hold my money for years, until I needed it earlier this year and withdrew all but a small balance.   The account had been pretty much "dormant" for years, however when I withdrew the bulk of the money, I received a letter on July  21 (dated July 17 ) ... VERY SHORT NOTICE .stating it would be accessed a dormant fee or my funds transferred to the State (???) if I didn't make a deposit or withdrawal by July 25 (giving me only 2 business days after receiving the letter). So I closed my account. When I commented about the small window of opportunity, the CSR advised me, this was disclosed to me when I opened the account (some 20+ years ago) .  Don't let your money sit, find someone else to invest it.
