Beautiful heavily wooded reserve with trails ranging from easy stroll to challenging uphill climb. Multiple parking lots, pet friendly (they even have a dog park), and close to public transportation. Cool your feet off in the creek after your toil. Did I mention the adorable handcrafted "fairy" houses nestled into random tree stumps? Can you find them all?

They have many things to do, but i typically come here to hike with my dad. It's always fun. Good trails but with my spirit of adventure, I like creating my own. Be careful with grabbing trees for balance, some of them have a ton of thorns. I made that mistake once, and it was not fun.

If you live in the area and just need a quick nature break, this would do. There is a cute Fairy Trail with tiny little artsy houses that kids would enjoy exploring. But if you're an avid hiker looking to get lost in nature or feel like you're in the wild, you'll be 100% disappointed. 

We were looking for a decent hike within a 30 minute drive from North Jersey. The trails are very poorly marked, and quite confusing. Some of the blazes are almost completely faded. Unfortunately, this park is riddled with graffiti and there are heaps of shattered glass everywhere. There are parts that appear to be where bored suburban kids go to smoke pot without getting in trouble.

Love South Mountain reservation they have the best dog park one for little dogs and one for big dogs gated and with water fountains for dogs,benches and a active owner community that is very friendly. The park is expansive and had trails for hiking and paved biking areas Eagle Rock in the park overlooks NYC there so many activities it's really a county jewel.

The 1.75 mile loop around the reservoir is perfect for walking or jogging. Beautiful and nicely maintained. Playground is also well designed and a great time.
