Love this place. The staff is amazing my waitress incredibly nice, smart, knowledgeable and on top of everything without being intrusive. Loved that I never felt rushed. Oh and the food made exactly how I wanted it. Green beans weren't over cooked and salmon was done well which is exactly what I asked for. And my dessert a chocolate Mickey Mouse cake was to die for. The chocolate icing wasn't to sweet yet it could kill any chocolate cravings. Loved the presentation. No fussy annoying singers to disturb everyone and make people stare. Thank God. Can't wait to go again.

Hello! We are a couple visiting another local couple who live here in Lexington. We are from Fredericksburg, VA. We tried two other places while here. And so far, this was the best. We went for brunch. The food was amazing. We all agreed. The place was clean, cozy, and inviting. We made a reservation and we specifically requested the smaller area with the booths because it is more intimate and less noisy than the other, larger area. Everything was tasty and fresh, and prepared to our liking! The only downside was the lack of warmth or personality from our waiter. But, we were able to enjoy ourselves anyway. We will gladly return.

This restaurant got wonderful reviews so we were excited to try it. It was late in the day when we arrived in town after a long day of traveling and the restaurant had only a few diners. We enjoyed our well prepared mixed drinks as we ordered from our friendly server. My husband ordered a pork selection and I ordered a dinner salad with salmon that also said came with goat cheese. When my salad arrived, I noticed there wasn't any goat cheese on it and asked my server about it. She informed me that it was on it. I moved a piece of lettuce and behold there was a piece of goat cheese hiding under the leaf that was truly 1 inch long by 1/2 wide. It barely filled a teaspoon. I asked our server if it would be possible to get just a bit more goat cheese, since the tiny teaspoons worth just didn't seem to add anything to the salad. She said she'd have to ask, but seemed apprehensive about getting the chef to give me more. A few minutes later she came back and said the chef would give me a little more, but would need to charge me $1.00. Come on, $1.00? This must be a very exclusive, artisanal cheese? Seriously, the chef thought 1 teaspoon of cheese is worthy of putting it on the selection as part of the salad? And in addition, my husbands pork was so underdone that it was raw in sections. The waitress sympathetically compensated us with a dessert, which added a sweet ending to our expensive and only so-so dinner...

Went for lunch. Wanted to stay for dinner! Our server, Steven, was fantastic! The best lunch service I have ever received! The cauliflower soup is to die for and the Ruben sandwich was on point. The food and service at the Southern Inn is absolutely perfect! Will be coming back again very soon!

Excellent American restaurant, beautiful restored building, great prices. I had the smoked salmon omelette, which came with potatoes, fruit, bacon, and a basket of home-made mini muffins. Outstanding brunch. Easily accessible from I 81.
