Story

Part dance hall, part steakhouse, Southern Junction has the greatest steaks in North Texas! It's your choice at Southern Junction: you can cook your own steaks or our experienced chef can do it for you. If you choose to go your own way, you'll select your cut, season it, and cook it on the long, hickory-fired communal grill. Stop by and enjoy one of our nightly dinner specials. Southern Junction is also a showplace for live country music with bands Wednesday through Saturday, while guests make use of the 2,000-square-foot dance floor or ride the mechanical Bull. Dance lessons are offered on Thursday night. Since this is a dry county, everyone over 21 must have a membership, good for one year, to enter; however, there is a coupon for free membership on our website which you may print and present at the door.

Hmm...i keep wondering after reading a number of these reviews if we are talking about the same place.  Am i understanding that many of you are ordering steak to be delivered to your table?  If so, i never even considered that as an option.  Half the reason (and experience) of going to this place is to cook your own steak.  It's fun to do, great social experience, and you can do it exactly the way you like it.  My suggestion, if you are going to go here, you should be cooking your own steak.

Good times here. Great music, large dancefloor, pool tables and plenty of table seating. Multiple bars, friendly staff and very clean restrooms. Food and drinks menu is fairly good, and prices are very reasonable. This is a wonderful place for country dancing, group gatherings and date nights. Service can be slow sometimes, but the atmosphere is always fun and worth it. Parking lot is a dirt field, location is a bit out of the way, but once you get inside you won't mind one bit. Definitely recommended.

We love SJ and have come here a hand-full of times since moving to the area. The steaks are great and we always bring our friends/family here when visiting Texas as it's a VERY Texas experience. 

The issue we have is with the smoke. I realize it's been a smoking establishment since it started, but by 9 or 10 pm the smoke is so terrible and begins to fill up the entire place. For non-smokers trying to eat a steak dinner, it can be extremely off-putting.  

What if there was just one Fri. or Sat. night per month that was non-smoking? Or what if one weekday night was a non-smoking night? My wife and I would go a lot more often if there was some sort of non-smoking option, but as it is, we only go every once in a while (once every 6 mo or so) and we don't stay past 10. If that ever gets changed or if a non-smoking option is added, we'll go much more. Thanks!

Took over an hour to get my burger.  Husband got his overcooked steak first.  Then my friend got her chicken fingers several minutes later.  A long time later I filly got my burger.  Manager finally came over after we requested it 3 times.  Also not great... 4 out of 5 stalls in the ladies room were out of toilet paper.  Big dance floor though and not too crowded.

The place allows smoking inside (not why I rated 3 stars, just want y'all to know). Good vibe from the staff. However, I had to wait for 45 minutes to get a cheeseburger. My family got their steak and finished it before I got my burger. We were the first customers of the night and there were several parties that got their food and left before I even saw mine. 
The burger was good and worth the wait, but I wish that there was a better explanation of why it took so long other than "the kitchen is backed up".
