This is easily my favorite bookstore in the world (and this is from a dedicated bibliophile who's made pilgrimages to Shakespeare + Co, etc.). This isn't Barnes & Noble; it's not even a standard used book shop, not by a long shot. Rather, George is a purveyor of magic (with a fondness for locals). You'll have the most success if you go in with eyes open as opposed to a quest for a specific title. I'm always surprised by what treasure will present itself by (yes, somewhat precariously) rifling through the stacks. Basically, if you're upset by character, or inconvenienced by personality, charm, or intrigue, then you won't like this bookstore. But! if you regard the world with a healthy sense of wonder, you'll realize what a literary lodestone exists within Southwest Book Trader.

If I could add a negative star I would. He had mostly junk books but prices them high. Does not negotiate his prices. Wants to keep them all. Also threatened people with a lead filled bat when I was there. Not recommended unless you want to give your money away or get beat up by a crazy guy

Stopped by today while walking around. The owner is a very nice gentleman, but he has entirely too many books in a small house. It's almost impossible to move around and look through the literal stacks of books. I finally gave up even though I found the sections I was looking for because I didn't want to cause a book avalanche. I hate giving him a bad review, but he needs three times the space at least.

Great used book store. Yeah, it's tight but selection of history and adventure books is great. Plus, he has some used backpacks and other related items.
