I have foolishly brought my lawn mower in 5 times for repair in the last 6-7 month, spending over $300 in total. Half the times the mower was returned "repaired" it did not start. The other half the times, the mower ran no more than once or twice, and then failed to start. Each time the problem is reported as water in the gas; except that I have started using canned gas with no ethanol, and premium gas, and have not left gas in the tank of the mower more than a few days (not long enough to absorb ambient moisture) ... thus, taking every precaution to be running good quality gasoline. Their repairs consist of cleaning the carburetor. On more recent pick-ups, I have asked them to start the mower at the shop, to make sure the repair was adequate. Two trips ago, the mower did not start when I went to pick it up, and I had to wait for them to complete the repair. Today I picked up the mower to repair a leaking carburetor, and took it home without asking them to start it at the shop (which was closing). The mower did not start. The charge was for over $80, which included replacing a new spark plug and new air filter that did not need replacement, and a sharpening I did not request. When I tell them on each visit how many prior visits I have made, they seem oblivious to how many times I have recently been there with the same problem. So, this is almost like a practical joke that is being played on me. It is a Twilight Zone of ineptitude to service a lawn mower. This is not a Ferrari or an F-16 fighter; it is a Poulan lawn mower with a bad carburetor. When the shop opens on Monday, I am going to ask for a 24 hour repair, at no charge, and with a refund of the last repair. I will also ask them to start the mower at the shop. Regardless of the outcome, I should have followed my instinct several repairs ago, which was to just buy a new mower, and find a more competent repair shop so that I never have to deal with such a ridiculous and futile service relationship. It is the single most frustrating service/repair experience I have had in 50 years.

Waited 10 weeks before picking up our untouched weedeater. They said "they were too busy on the phone to get to their work, and they'd hire someone to help, but didn't have time to train them." Those type of excuses won't cut it in an ever increasingly competitive service environment. We've been purchasing equipment and having our small engine repair jobs and tune ups done there for over 40 years. Their service has diminished dramatically over the past several years. We've taken our business elsewhere and would recommend you do the same. Nothing lasts forever and SPD Sawshop is a business that can't last much longer. Don't get caught with your equipment in their as their doors will close soon.

OK, I checked with every friggin' Husqvarna dealer and repair shop, literally, between Elk Grove and Auburn for a muffler screw and carb gasket, NOBODY had them, 'yes we can order them...try buying on line, etc. etc.' but I needed them NOW!!! Thank goodness I called SPD and they had both at the lowest prices (lower than on line, really? $5.oo shipping on a $5.oo item, gimme a break, and helpful advice and friendly service) I'll always check SPD first from now on. Thanks folks. It was worth the 40 mile round trip.
