I went into the store today to have my daughters iPhone 5 activated for a birthday present. She will be 12 on May 11. I previously called the 800 number but was sent to the nearest Sprint to get a SIM card. The two young associates were very nice and the young woman was going through a stack of SIM cards scanning them trying to find one to work with the iPhone 5 which was not a success. Toward the end of the visit I noticed the female associate fidgeting with something that looked like a long plastic piece in her hand, I then watched her snap it as it breaks in two pieces and then view her toss it in the trash. As I picked up my daughters iPhone I noticed the bottom back panel was missing and then I realized that was the piece the associate broke with her hand and tossed out. I then looked at her and said wasn't that the piece you just broke and threw in the trash. She looked surprised like she realized she was fidgeting with something she should not have been. She responded that I could go to an Apple store and fix the piece now missing off the back of the phone. I responded that's not right of you to say that since you are the one that was fidgeting and broke it. Then the young gentlemen next to her said "well it's apparent it was a piece that was loose because it just fell off". I told both of them I understood this was an older model phone but this was the first time I have ever seen anything fall off of this phone and it wasn't fair I was being told that I should be the one to fix it since the young lady associate snapped it in her hand because she was playing with it. They both offered me a phone case to keep the piece on but that was not good enough so then they finally told me a manager would be in tomorrow. I myself am a manager in the corporate world and at this point I really feel my daughter is more deserving than me handing her a broken phone that is hooked up. All I am asking for is a replacement for my daughters iPhone 5 for her birthday. I don't feel I should be responsible for fixing a piece an associate was fidgeting with. My heart is sad if I have to hand back this phone to my child on May 11. I Spoke to the Manager Umi Tei today on 5-2-18 and he basically told me my phone is old and they would not replace or fix what his associate broke. Wow now I have contacts sthe VP and CEO since no one over there wants to be accountable for breaking my daughters phone.... Absolutely ridiculous
