St. Augustine Beach KOA Holiday

About

We're the best place to relax and enjoy a sunny Florida vacation. Near the oldest city in the United States, we are close to beaches and much more!

Story

You're well-situated to explore the historic city of St. Augustine from this campground on Anastasia Island. Visit the Fountain of Youth park (known as the site where Ponce de Leon landed in 1513), the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum and the Lightner Museum-filled with artifacts from America's "Gilded Age." Anglers can cast for snapper, grouper, amberjack and other tasty fish on a deep-sea charter or from the pier that's just a mile away. From your Camping Cabin, RV site or tent site, take a 3/4-mile walk to the ocean or enjoy on-site amenities, including a pool, fishing pond, paddleboats and Kamp K9, where your pup can run and play off leash!

like many others have said, the campground is directly behind a group of small stores that face the main road. For me this wasn't the main issue although it may have been if my site was directly next to the wall. Roughly two months ago we made reservations, at that time I specifically asked not to be placed near the restrooms/ showers/ laundry buildings. When we arrived our site was right next to one. All other sites were already taken / reserved. The first night street noise (loud exhaust pipes, loud motorcycles, and car audio) kept us awake much of the night. The second night some guy in a dark pickup truck with a dark cap decided to do laundry at 12:50AM. He made at least 8 trips to/from his truck and slammed his truck doors each time. Same with the dryer doors, slammed each time. This could happen at any campground, but nevertheless we had two almost sleepless nights. The owners/ managers and the guests were all very nice, the grounds, facilities, gas grills, etc. were all in pretty good shape. No fault of the owners, all I can say is the location isn't a good place for a campground and the price is kind of steep for such a campsite.

Location is good and its very clean and taken care of. The staff were very friendly. When we arrived we didn’t like our spot and they moved us immediately to one that had gotten a cancellation and was much nicer. There is a trolley tour company that picks and drops off on site which was very convenient and you get a good price through KOA. There is a nice dog walk and fenced area. The only reason we docked points for our stay was that we had a noisy drinking group next to us that kept us up after 11am, well past quiet hours. And the WiFi is really bad here and we could barely open emails or do anything online.

I reserved a tent site. My first impression upon seeing the tent site was to leave. I mean who wants to camp 20 ft away from a Dominos dumpster? I'm not making that up. It was on the other side of the fence! It didn't smell great. We dealt with it because no refunds but I wont repeat that mistake again. Close to the beach, great staff, decent bathrooms. Would be great for a camper or RV but the tent sites not so much.

So dissatisfied with this campground. We traveled so far for our beautiful vacation in Florida and ended up behind a Domino's pizza shop and strip mall. We could literally hear everything coming from the back of the stores including smells of cigarette smoke. I mean it was laughable! All if the campers are stuffed together like sardines. For 40-50 more dollars we could have stayed at an upscale hotel. So dissatisfied will not recommend or return. Plus side dog friendly, and friendly campers.... Honestly, if I wanted to on top of others I should have just stayed in New York, where BTW there us a Beautiful KOA, that I have stayed at before.

A very nice campground three miles from downtown St Augustine. It's an easy and safe bicycle ride to town. Each campsite has a gas grill and wood fire ring or grill. Clean and safe.
