About

St. Luke's Hospital improves the health of St. Louis by focusing on heart, cancer, neuro, ortho & women’s care. Our specialty is you.

Story

St. Luke's is a faith-based, nonprofit healthcare provider committed to improving the quality of life for our patients and the community. Our compassionate healthcare team furthers this mission by providing high quality, nationally-recognized care and achieving excellent patient satisfaction.

We also offer a broad range of services spanning your entire life. Since the day we cared for our first patient more than 150 years ago, St. Luke's has grown from a single hospital location to an advanced network of care, with extraordinary physicians and other healthcare experts providing services in over 60 specialty areas across our 493-bed hospital in Chesterfield, Mo. and 25 outpatient locations in St. Louis and St. Charles counties.

We are proud to be the only independent hospital in the greater St. Louis area. We also value the affiliations, collaborations and partnerships we have established throughout our region and the nation that enable us to continue enhancing the services we provide our patients. For example, St. Luke's is the exclusive St. Louis affiliate of the nation's No. 1 heart hospital, Cleveland Clinic's Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute.

In addition, St. Luke's is a leader in health education through our community outreach initiatives. As the region's only Spirit of Women hospital, St. Luke's provides exceptional women's services, information and programs that help women and their families take action for better health.

The ladies at registration in the emergency room were absolutely wonderful, I was taken in immediately and didn’t have to wait for a room. Thank you, for that I am grateful. Though absolutely NOTHING was done by the doctor for the pain I was experiencing, but prescribing me an opioid and sending me home. Before leaving my room, the doctor asked me if I was sure I didn’t tear a muscle in my abdominal wall. As far as I’m aware, it’s the doctor’s actual job to figure out what is wrong with the patient. That’s why I went to the emergency room. If I knew what was wrong with me, and if I was able to make diagnoses, I would be the one with a PhD.

Thanks to caring doctors, I learned that double vision is not to be ignored! The vision event had me in the ER to rule out some scary possible causes. From the St. Luke's security man who helped me get to the ER to my departure the next evening, I KNEW I WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE. I praise every caregiver that helped me. Without their skills and friendly help, I would have been terrified, but I just relaxed as the mystery was solved and I got to go home with hope in my heart that I am a healthy lady in the autumn of her years.! Over the years I have helped many family and friends through hospital experiences and it is a gamble you take when you need help. I will trust this hospital to handle my loved ones and me if ever I need to do so again.

My first visit to this hospital was today, I chose Saint Luke's today because of all the horrible experiences at other hospitals. I found "my" hospital today:) Very friendly doctors, nurses, receptionists and staff. They all showed genuine concern and really went out of their way to help me out, I am very greatful for all their hard work and concern. If your tired of rude doctors, nurses that don't care and provide the bare minimum, then come here. This place is great! I will always recommend and come to Saint Luke's from now on! Thanks guys!!!

We love this place. We have delivered all 3 of our kids here and everyone is incredible. Best staff of any hospital I've ever been in. Private rooms in the maternity area are incredible.

On Friday, October 13, 2017, my 90 year old mother was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's ER after she fell at the assisted living community where she lives. She arrived about 6:30 pm and after several tests were performed, the ER staff decided to admit her as an observation patient. We spent 6 hours in the ER , an interminable amount of time, until my mother was finally taken to a room on the 6th floor about 12:30pm. At least two hours of the time was spent waiting for a room to become available. When my mother arrived on the 6th floor, we noticed that that there were at least three other empty rooms in the 6600 section. My family and I have been to the ER more than once and the wait to be treated and/or admitted, averages about 4 hours. I would like to know why the waiting time in the ER treatment room takes so long, and what St. Luke's is doing to reduce the ER wait.
