St Paul School of Music is a fantastic music school, plain and simple. Rick Stack has created a relaxed, friendly place you'll look forward to being at every week. The school offers lessons in guitar, drums, piano, voice, violin, and more. The instructors are top-notch and fully-qualified to be there for you in the capacity that you need them. The experience isn't just about learning how to play an instrument, you're also introduced to the theory, composition, and techniques behind the music that you play. And the music is chosen from your interests so it's music that you want to play. I have been taking guitar lessons here for 2 years and I continue to be challenged. Most importantly, I continue to have fun! I highly recommend St Paul School of Music to anyone, from beginner to advanced. You won't regret it!

Fantastic school. Unfortunately I was unable to take lessons long term due to moving arrangements, however the time I spent there was great! Rick is flexible and easy to work with, the school was clean and had good resources, and the instructors were skilled and catered to what I wanted to learn. I would highly recommend this school to a player of any skill level looking to get some specific tips fro excellent players! Great value for the price.

St. Paul School of Music is a great place for music lessons! I took guitar lessons for 2 ½ years through the St. Paul Guitar Studio, and the transition to the St. Paul School of Music has been seamless. The new location is very convenient, easy to find, and parking is a breeze. The Google image of the building has yet to be updated; there is a well-light sign and parking area now – you can’t miss it! The instructors at St. Paul School of Music are impeccable. My instructor, and owner of the school, is not only a force on guitar, but also conducts our lessons in such a way that breaks everything down so that anyone can learn it! (Even me! ). He is incredibly patient with my many questions and has an eclectic knowledge of music. Currently, we are working on Blues and I can’t get enough. I love it! I also look forward to learning more about music theory. The St. Paul School of Music is not only for lessons though! Gene at the Guitar Squad can repair instruments, replace strings, or even just supply the new ones. I highly recommend the St. Paul School of Music for all age groups – you won’t regret it!

My daughter, now 8 years old, started learning guitar at the St Paul Guitar Studio just over a year ago. Her instructor, Rick, has enabled her to progress quickly through creative exercises and song choices which keeps her excited and engaged. Soon after my daughter started, I began taking lessons from Rick as well. Despite my years of experience I feel Rick will always be able to expand my skills and knowledge. I know other instructors have this range as well and can accommodate students at almost any level or playing style. Since starting I have a new found enjoyment in playing which is really what its all about for me. We have followed the school to its new location and look forward to making use of the expanded instructional opportunities, such as voice lessons, in the future.

This is the place to go for music lessons in the twin cities. I’ve been a student twice with the St. Paul School of Music (formerly the St. Paul Guitar Studio.) Once as a college student, and my experience was so good that I returned 8 years later when I moved back to the area. The prices are extremely reasonable and their hours are very accommodating to busy schedules. I’m currently working with the owner Rick Stack, and I couldn’t be happier with the lessons. I’ve been playing guitar for several years, and I’ve progressed the most during my time with the St. Paul School of Music. The new location is a great environment to learn an instrument. There are several individual instruction rooms, a comfortable waiting lounge and there’s a guitar shop inside the school (Guitar Squad) with strings and accessories along with a luthier. The school expanded beyond guitar and now includes instructors for piano, drums, violin, voice and more. Bottom line, this is a great place regardless of your level of experience. If you or your child are just thinking of starting an instrument, you can rest assured that there is no long term commitment at the school. The lessons are month to month, and the price point for this level of professional instruction cannot be beaten. If you’re an intermediate/advanced player, the instructors are great musicians who can help keep you motivated, expand your ability and help you break through any plateaus in your playing.
