Absolutely horrible security lines and amenities.  My recent PIE airport visit to board onto Allegiant was a horrible experience. I thought flying out of a local airport rather than going to Tampa International would be a great experience however, it was the worst. The security lines are super crammed and it’s a complete mess with no area to gather your things. Also, they have no drinking water available to fill up your empty water bottles. There is also no where to “hang out” before boarding the plane as all 6 gates are all smashed together. We have flown out of many airports and this by far was unacceptable.  Not to mention the “no help” demenour all the agents showed when our flight was diverted and sent back to PIE. The manager of the airport clearly stated he has no direction as what to do for the 150 some passengers that needed a flight out.

One of the most upsetting moments for my family turned out slightly better due to the help of Miss Christine in the information booth.  Thank you so very much for helping my mother when the REST of the airport staff DROPPED THE BALL and left my 75 yr old mother to fend for herself.! YOU MISS Christine are WONDERFUL!!  Airport escorts... AWFUL!!

Small and not many things to do airport... it’s near to Tarpon so it’s perfect for me... because it’s tiny is pretty much crowed every time I went there but it’s normal... I didn’t had any bad experience but things can get intense... I had this feeling many times...

Nice smaller airport instead of using Tampa, but often very busy, crowded, and the TSA staff is understaffed with the amount of people going through the security checkpoints. So plan on taking up to 1 hour to get through security. Sometimes it faster, but don't chance it, ha. 
This airport is easy to get to, clean, well kept, and has the basic food and shops inside of it. 
If you like a smaller airport, give them a try.

I didnt have any issues considering it was my first time on a plane trip. Didnt get lost. Easy to get around. Wasnt crowded. Baggage claim is like a half mile walk to the other side of the airport but thats no big deal. Nice place.
