I consistently get terrible coffee from this location. I don't know what it is, no matter what I order, from very basic coffee/espresso drinks to the very infrequent "special" request, there is either something wrong with the order, something missing or added that I asked not to have or it just tastes horrible. Obviously this is a case of poor training of the child employees they have behind the counter, which is a revolving door of staff btw. I don't expect anybody to choose Starbucks as a career, so it's expected that they are mostly teenagers working part time. But don't they get some kind of training before being allowed to make drinks? I want my $5 back! I steer clear of this location almost completely now, which often means I go out of my way, across town, or to the Target location. Whenever I have had a lapse in judgement or I'm running behind for an appt and use the app to pick up an order here I am ALWAYS regretful of my decision. Simple drinks where a person actually wants to taste the coffee are usually burnt beyond drink-ability, like a pot of coffee sitting on a stove burner for the entire day just roasting away. Is there something wrong with the machines at this location? I often go to Target SW Starbucks now and my drinks are perfect every time, exactly how they should be. The irony is they aren't even employees of Starbucks! Also they are all incredibly friendly, they ask questions if needed to make sure the drink is correct, and I've never had to complain. The counter is lower and the high partition is not there, so I can actually talk to the Barista who is making my drink and they can talk to me. The disadvantage of Target locations is no mobile ordering, which is how I prefer to get my drinks now. I don't often have the time or patience to wait for 10 mins when they get busy in the mornings. I know Starbucks says "if you're unhappy we'll make it right for you", but when a person is limited on time and uses mobile ordering for this reason, it puts me in an awkward and very uncomfortable position to say hey, this drink isn't good make it again. And let's be honest, if it's not good the first time, the person who made it that way isn't going to do it better the second time. In fact I have called out an employee once when something was completely wrong and the 2nd time it was still wrong. No apology, no responsibility taken, nobody else stepping in to correct it. They treat me like something is wrong with me for wanting what I pay for. I shouldn't know your menu better than you. 2 weeks ago I took a business meeting at this location (not my choice) and I actually stopped at the Target location down the street to get coffee before meeting colleagues here. I might have been the only person ever to bring Starbucks into Starbucks. But I knew it wouldn't be made well here. The manager at this location is very nice and pleasant and always seems upbeat. But a friendly manager doesn't mean the staff is trained and doesn't change the bad coffee. I have never worked for Starbucks so I don't know what the training process is, but clearly it's not working. I can only blame management. Sadly most people in fat hog-loving Iowa drink Frappuccinos and drinks with gobs of syrup and sugar and chocolate, so maybe the 12 year olds making my macchiato or iced Americano just don't know how to make anything else.
