Story

Starved Rock Lodge and Cabins were built from 1933 to 1939 by the Depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps and then were listed the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on May 8, 1985. By the National Register’s criteria, the Lodge and Cabins are considered significant in the area of architecture and entertainment.

We met up with family at the restaurant. One of our family members uses a wheel chair and found the restaurant to be accessible --a big plus for us. The restaurant was clean; the service was good. It took little time between us sitting down and our orders taken. The waitress was kind and good at her job. Our food came quickly. The waitress kept our coffee and water filled. The food was good and reasonably priced . The restaurant has a pleasant, rustic feel. We liked it there and plan to return.

My family had a holiday celebration at the starved rock lodge. The rooms on the lodge side were a little small but the price was also very good at only $100 per night. Unfortunately it was too cold to do any hiking this time but we have gone in the past and the views are great! Some of my family braved the cold and went to view the eagles at a near by lookout. The food at the lodge was meh but the drinks at the bar were great. My wife and I particularly liked the Irish kiss. Overall it was a great trip.

Great location. Amazing views. Picturesque building, great hall and fireplace. Hotel services are ordinary and dated and staff especially at the front desk are just going through the motions. Restaurant is tasty if lacking of much variety and surprisingly even options such as non dairy milk alternatives that are offered even at their own Cafe. But all in all the views and location make up for the deficiencies but leaves you with what could have been feeling.

Just an awesome State Park with great trails along the river and trails upon upper Bluffs to look down on the river and various caverns.  Great place for a leisurely stroll or a full fledged workout as it has a lot of stairwells you can climb to get to different areas if you choose.

Very nice and historic. Hot showers in room and good food from restaurant and catering. The couches in lounge area are extremely hard to sit in and very uncomfortable. No major complaints. The park is amazing.
