I bought my mom a $145 gift certificate for Christmas, which she used today. I paid $75 for hair treatment/color, and $70 for a relaxing facial. The receptionist who was there when I bought the gift certificate told me that the money was a "dollar amount" which she further explained as meaning if my mom wanted to get something else instead of what I paid for, she could just choose something, like instead of a facial, she could get a manicure or something. My mom told me that they charged her the full $145 for just her hair, all he did was dye it and trim the ends a little, AND charged her an additional $25 for service; which was not even mentioned to me when I bought her certificate. They didn't even show her a pamphlet listing the different treatments she could exchange hers for, and the guy who worked on her didn't even introduce himself. $145 is ridiculous for just dye and end trimmings. I definitely would not recommend this place.

Two of the stars are for my massage therapist who did a great job. The other star is for the manicurist who did a nice job shaping and cleaning up my nails but did a really poor job on the polish on my toes and a horrible job on my gel polish on my toes. For the amount of money I paid, they should look flawless. The receptionist was nice, but talking about inappropriate things in front of a new client, didn't even leave the desk to get me a robe, but had a coworker get it for me, didn't give me any instructions, no key for my locker, I could go on. I suppose since this is more of a destination place, they don't really care, but I care, because it's my one day to myself away from my family while on a work trip and I just wanted to relax. It was ok, but I'd rather have spent my money on slots. I will say that my massage was great, I was snoring away!

Took my daughter to Steel Magnolia Spa at Sands today for full face make up for her prom. We arrived for her appointment about 15 minutes early and she was taken in about 5 minutes later which was great because we were kind of in a rush anyway. Her technician was Jasmine and we got the feeling right away that she wasn't that experienced, the first give away was that she did my daughters foundation with no concealer and she applied this before doing her eye makeup or filling in her eyebrows. I have had my makeup done several times and eyes are always done first. Next when I mentioned that she didn't really look like she was even wearing makeup I was told that make up "is supposed to look natural". No, makeup is supposed to look how the person paying for it wants it to look. We could tell that her skills were very limited so it seemed pointless to tell her what we were unhappy with since I don't think she could've done it better anyway. After an hour and 20 minutes she was far from done. At this point she had wiped away the eyeliner from one eye for the third time because it was uneven so I said that we were going to leave. At the front desk we were told that a really good makeup artist named Diana was available and could fix my daughters makeup. They also said she is who we were originally scheduled with but her previous appt ran late so that's why we got Jasmine. We were extremely behind schedule at this point and so we did not have enough time for her to take off what was done and start over, Diana had even said it would be better to start over but unfortunately we just did not have time. In the end due to no fault of Diana's my daughter was still not 100% happy and had to do a little fixing of her own at home. When I went to pay I was shocked to be charged the full price of $70. To add insult to injury the girl at the desk had the audacity to say to me when I told her I was leaving a $10 tip for Diana that $18 would be the minimum! First off a tip is optional and it is reflective of the services you received. You should instruct your people of this! Extremely dissatisfied with our experience and will never go back.
