A neighborhood bar with an eclectic menu of modern American cuisine, Steel Wheel Tavern is sure to please.
Located in Ridgewood’s Historical District directly across from the train station, Steel Wheel Tavern maintains the charm of its late 19th century origins, with the up-to-date appeals of craft beers, specialty cocktails, and a substantial wine menu.
It also boasts a delectable variety of popular pasta dishes, locally sourced pork and poultry dishes, Angus beef, vegetarian options, composed seafood options, sandwiches and burgers.

Went for the first time.
Friendly staff! Great food and excellent service.
Excellent selection of ipa and craft beers.
Overall great experience.

Good place for a day drink. Didn't try the food but the menu looked solid. Great service cool atmosphere

Me and three other friends stopped in steel wheel around 1130 on a Saturday night. After sitting at the bar for a few minutes looking at the beer menu a man behind the bar leans over towards my friend (of mixed asian/middle eastern descent) and says "go back to your country". She asks him for clarification, and he repeats again "go back to your country". After that egregiously rude insult we decide to leave, explaining to a second bartender what had just happened. He instisted is was just a joke, referring to the first mans turkish descent. 

On the way out another waiter comments (paraphrased) "oh no, we run out of apple juice?" Alluding to our young age (all of us are 24). 

Insulting and rude comments tend to come from bar patrons, not the employees themselves. I will not be returning, and as a life long Ridgewood resident I will be sure to share this experience with others.
