What can I say about Stonegrove Guitar... Stonegrove Guitar is a lost art. Personal, professional, knowledgeable and passionate. In an industry that is becoming "big boxed" Stonegrove is proving that the local, family owned guitar shop is the best option. The shop is visually striking because it gives you the classic music, garage band type of feel. It isn't perfectly laid out and that is what's ideal about it. The personality of the store is one that reminds me of exactly why I picked up a guitar to begin with. It's got comradery and uniqueness written all over the walls and those same aspects are backed up by the staff. The second I walked in there, I could tell the owner was engaged in the business, sitting at the front desk talking to incoming and outgoing clients. I asked a simple question, was pointed in the right direction and went on my way. The best part of small family owned music shops is that they let you fall in love with a instrument without bothering you and pressuring you to buy it - unlike the big box stores. The owner did just that. I went and discovered the guitar I wanted to check out and after about 30 minutes of jamming the owner came back and had a conversation with me. Not a single time was - "are you going to buy that" asked. We talked music, business, life and shared some opinions on local bands (support the musicians!!) and instruments in general. I'll tell you this much, I walked out the store after my first visit wishing I did not have to leave. I returned today - my second time walking through the door and was greeted by name by the owner. How incredible is that! Once again, conversations were had, knowledge was shared and an overall feeling of enjoyment was felt. I picked up some strings and got some free advice on rehabbing a damaged guitar before leaving. I have all intentions of returning to tinker with some of the instruments for sale -hoping to find my newest addition to a small but ever growing collection. Go to Stonegrove Guitars. You won't find better service or a more knowledgeable staff anywhere else in the greater La Grange area.

"My new "USUAL" place!" Well i heard about this place from asking around online. Guitar shops are like tattoo parlors to me, When you first walk in, if you dont get that "Welcome feeling" and i dont mean, just a HELLO, (its a bit more then that), then i dont want to bring my gear there. Would you trust any ol' person with your baby? I have been using a local place closer to me for years to do setups on all my guitars. The 2 places near me, which i wont name are just not doing it for me anymore. One place, there a bit "Big Headed" so to speak and the other place, they rush thru things so fast, they dont give you a really good setup . So i brought in my Gibson LP standard for a setup and it had some buzz and sounded a little dead. When i walked it, 2 guys were really cool, talked to me and asked what issues i was having, Real nice clean place. Very friendly guys ( forget there names, 2 younger guys ) they even suggested i try different strings ( which i did and so far i am VERY happy ) they did a awesome setup on my LP ( ebony traditional pro ). Got it back the same day, BUT they didnt rush thru it in 5 minutes. I plan on returning there with my 2 other guitars. They are further from me then my 2 usual places, but i think Stonegrove is going to be my new USUAL place! Thanks guys!
