UPDATE: They've lost another star. I was put on hold immediately after calling. I was on hold for five minutes, it then rang through and they tried to put me on hold again. This time I said 'No, you've had me on hold for five minutes' and they went ahead and put me on hold again anyway. My doctor is the only reason I persist with this place! The front office needs either dedicated phone staff or more staff overall. They are pleasant in person, I've never had a problem with that (though getting referrals through them is a fascinating experience). Ultimately when you do reach someone on the phone they assist you (or shunt you to the nurse's station to voicemail), but the service otherwise feels like they'd prefer you not bother them in the first place. Original review: While I love my doctor at this place, I am increasingly put off and frustrated by the folks on the phone. They put you on hold without asking as soon as they pick up, and I've consistently been on hold for over 5 minutes each time. When I finally get to explain the purpose of my call, I'm shuttled immediately to voicemail. This is a doctor's office. People call because they are *not well*. This shouldn't be happening. If they're overworked, they need more staff. The nurses, on the other hand, have been consistently lovely.

All the 1 Star Reviews are correct! The girl at the front desk today (11-30-2017) was the worst. She was rude, not helpful, and very unpleasant. I went in today to make an appointment as a new patient, and I left agitated. I was going to call and make and appointment, despite the girl at the front desk, because I know how it is to work in customer service and at doctors office as a Medical Assistant. But then I thought, why is her behavior acceptable, and it seems to be an ongoing issue. No matter how frustrated I get at work, I never take it out on a patient, without patients, I have no job. I did not make an appointment, and I am leaving a bad review, because working in this field you have to have thick skin, and fake a smile, even when its hard. If the doctors are okay with having staff like that, I want no part of this practice. Stoney Batter Family Medicine, your Doctors may be GREAT, but your front desk staff needs some work.

Horrible phone system, staff is very unpleasant.I called twice to schedule an appointment. The first call I asked if they were taking new patients they said yes. Then I asked to get a doctors name so I could put on my insurance card as pcp. The girl answered I cant give you that info. Check the internet and then hung up. I called a second time for an appointment as a new patient. I was put on hold for a long 10 minutes and when someone was finally on the phone she hung up after I asked her to schedule an appointment for me. All I heard was a uuuuhhh and then I was speaking to myself. Wow! Re-train your staff or hire new ones. So I guess I won't be your patient with that unfriendly staff!

Its very hard to talk to someone to get an appointment. Crazy. You have to leave messages and hope to get the phone call back even though you are at work. You should be able to call and talk to someone right away and make an appt. Weird stuff. May have to switch dr.

first time I went there, they spelled my name wrong into the system so my insurance didn't pay the bill. I had to call the insurance and doctor's office back and forth to get that fixed. the staff was very rude inpatient and unpleasant every time. then I had to call them a few times to make appointments and get referrals. same experience. It's time for me to find a new family doctor.
