They are a 24 hour animal hospital, and the only one in the area. That's about the only good thing they have going for them. My dog was unable to walk and was defecating herself. We brought here here on a Saturday about 7pm. It was about an hour before they got her in to see the vet, a few hours before they called us into an exam room to talk about things, and several more hours before the had completed the exams. All in all, we were there for 9 1/2 hours and had a bill of just under $1000 all for them to give her some anti-inflammatory pills and some mild pain killers. They had us sitting in an exam room for several hours without any contact which was boring and frustrating as we had no idea what was going on. Prices for services were never discussed, and we felt sort of forced into a few of the things we agreed to. The vet initially seemed like he cared, but when I started to question why we needed more and more services, we never saw him again, and they finally hurried us out. It was as if they figured they could not get more money out of us, so they didn't need us there anymore. During the visit, a lady had come in saying she had a 200 pound rottweiler in her truck that had been hit by a car. They told her to go wait by her car and they would come with a gurney to get the dog. She came in about an hour later asking in they were coming, and they said they were on the way. Finally probably another 45 minutes later, they went out to help. If there were ANY other close by options for immediate vet assistance, I would take it in a heartbeat. These people only seem to care about the money you can provide and not really about what is good for the animal. Two weeks after our "visit", I needed to get hold of the pharmacy to refill my dogs prescriptions. I have left 2 messages as nobody ever answers the phone, but have yet to receive a reply. I work a weird shift which is why I was trying to go here, but apparently I will need to take time to go somewhere else and see what they can do. Edit: Got a call the other day asking us when we would be back for a checkup on our dog that they didn't do much for in the first place, and that died shortly after the visit here. Seriously, this place is just after your money and are apparently trying to drum up business now. They didn't return phone calls when I needed prescription refills, but now they want my business... this place sucks.

I am very grateful for the young ER Vet that supported me on the absolute worst day of my life on Sunday, January 7th. My precious boy had some type of mass in his belly that burst sometime in the early morning hours. I discovered him, half conscientious laying next to my couch, likely trying to get outside one last time. I rushed him to Sumner Veterinary, where sadly the best decision was to have him cross the Rainbow Bridge. The Bet was so sweet and compassionate. It meant the world to me that this total stranger showed my little boy so much companion and as so gentle with him in those last moments of his life. My girls are due to see the Vet, and without a doubt Sumner will be getting my business.

I’m not quite sure what’s going on with all the terribly negative comments. I almost didn’t bring my pet here because of them. I’m in the healthcare field, and glad I overlooked the negative comments and decided to see for myself. My pet has received EXCEPTIONAL care here. Yes, they’re busy - Yes, they’re more expensive than smaller Veterinary offices/non emergency care, but I think it’s worth it. They care about the pets and clients, and view their health the same as humans who are treated by Physicians. They offer their recommendations for the best possible care for their patients. If you don’t want/need a service simply say, “No”. It’s not difficult, and you’re not a bad pet owner because of your decisions. Do keep in mind the monthly medications they recommend may save you thousands of dollars, in the long run if the animal contracts a disease. They’re a 24hr emergency vet, so take the time to make an appointment and be on time. Do some research before you go, as well, to see what necessary things your pets need. Of course a $170 for grooming my cat and travel meds may seem high, but he needs sedation with Veterinary supervision and weighs 18.5 pounds. I’ve paid twice this everywhere else I’ve gone. Not to be cruel, but I feel a lot of reviews on here are from uneducated clients who feel the Veterinarians are required to work miracles.

Each staff member was compassionate and professional. My dog had to have emergency surgery, so I was very emotional. I appreciated the fact that my options were explained well and I was not pressured during my decision process. Our dog received excellent quality care. I am truly grateful!

I forgot the lady’s name who sees birds but she was extremely rude when I took my bird in for a check up. I was frantically trying to find a vet that saw birds and they were the closest one by me. So I took him in and asked if they could check on him. I was crying about my bird and the vet lady proceeded to yell at me because she was supposed to get off the clock when I came in and I didn’t know so she yelled at me to make sure I called next time. But when something horrible happens to your animals you aren’t going to think correctly. Plus they charged me almost $200 just to look at him for two seconds and send me out the door. I found a better exotic vet in maple valley that’s way cheaper and everyone is much more friendly. Please don’t take your bird here. Or any animals. Because they do not care.
