At Ted’s Shoe and Sport, we go the extra mile to achieve the perfect fit for every foot. Our staff is podiatrist-trained, with specialized knowledge of foot biomechanics. We know how to achieve a fit that balances comfort with support.

Ted’s is a store that filled that void. Any athlete or non athlete can come into the store and have a team of employees who’ve been trained extensively. At TEDS they actually don’t like to use the word training, but rather learning. Learning is the acquisition of skills, knowledge, understanding, values, and wisdom. It is the product of experience, and the goal of education.

Ted McGreer, owner of Ted’s Shoe and Sport started in the world of ski/bike, and snowboarding retail in 1986. He instantly realized that he was living the dream. The dream to love what you do, and do what you love! Having been involved with sports his whole life; he became interested in triathlons, ski racing, and competitive cycling. “Living in New Hampshire at the time, being in my mid 20’s, and not knowing what Colorado had to offer was my springboard to the big mountains!”

In 1991, Ted moved out west to take his training to the next level. “Altitude training is the most incredible challenge coming from sea level!” He soon became the manager of a prominent retail store in Dillon, Co, and developed into a master ski/snowboard boot fitter.

Realizing the importance of alignment from an athlete’s perspective quickly became a science of endless learning to Ted, one that he fell in love with. Ted’s willingness to listen and constantly improve, soon earned him a name for himself in a county full of elite athlete’s. He began to fit boots for many US Development Ski Team athletes, Dr’s were prescribing his services, and athlete’s recovering from surgery soon discovered Ted.

Then in 1996, He realized how much he missed his family back in beautiful New Hampshire, and decided to move back to the east cost. He was immediately recruited to manage a technical running store in Keene called Athlete’s Corner, where he gained immediate attention from the running community. As time went on, many Podiatrists, and others in the medical community began to send people to Ted for his expertise in proper foot/shoe/boot fit and function.

Having managerial experience from a business standpoint, and a lot of perseverance, gave Ted the opportunity of a lifetime………to own and operate his own store.

In February of 2000, Ted’s Shoe and Sport opened its doors and has never looked back.

Ted’s Shoe and Sport has become known as the place for “knock your socks off” service in central New England. Sponsoring over 20 road races a year, more than 12 youth sports teams, ski and snowboard events, and consistently giving back to the community earned Ted’s Shoe and Sport the Keene Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year in 2005.
