Wow I haven't even stepped foot in this office and I am so put off. I read the other bad reviews but decided I wanted to give them a chance. It started off rude from the moment the phone was answered and I asked if this was Tahama Women's Specialist, the receptionist said that wasn't their name anymore and corrected me like I was stupid. (Sorry that's what your name still is on google. Geez) I called to see if I could set up a walk through of their office to see if I would like to receive prenatal care there. The receptionist was very short and very rude on the phone. She said no they don't do tours. So then I asked if they did a sit down question time with the providers. "No we don't do that either." So then I asked if there was any way to see the place to decide if I want to go there. "No we don't because that wouldn't be a billable visit." She said with a snotty tone. Other reviews said this place is all about the money and not the care and I guess this proves it. I moved here from out of state and my old Nurse Midwife office was very glad to show you around and let you talk with the nurses and midwives. You're having a baby for crying out loud, it's your right to see what you are choosing to bring your child into.

What a terrible place to go. They don't pay attention to detail and don't listen to what their patients say. I schedule an appointment with a female and they gave me a male. I tell them I can't have something and they prescribe meds with it anyways. I ask for a natural solution and they refuse to make any recommendations. They just want to shove pills down my throat which resulted in me having to stay in bed for almost two weeks and then made me throw up for even longer. They didn't explain their billing correctly and I get a surprise bill for over $1,300. They take my blood and pee and don't tell me what they are testing for. They claim they called me and sent something in the mail when they clearly didn't(yes they had my correct info). They send me over to a different place to get an ultrasound even though they can do it for cheaper knowing I had two deductibles to meet. I don't suggest anyone go here for care.

Okay. So with my first pregnancy I actually received pretty good care particularly from the nurse midwives. Unfortunately I had to have a cesarean. I had taken too many tums for my heartburn and my placenta had calcified pretty bad. They notified me of the VBAC ban in the hospitals in Northern California before the surgery so over the next year I did my research and decided to go with homebirth midwives for my next pregnancy. About half way through my pregnancy after my midwives had requested my medical history I got a call from Dr Shea's office that was extremely patronizing trying to discourage me from receiving care from my midwives (who by the way were amazing and truly care about their moms and babies) telling me how extremely dangerous VBAC is. So that's when I realized that they didn't truly care about women and birth but more about their paycheck. I suggest all women being told they must have a repeat cesarean to the research of what the risk of uterine rupture is (less than one percent - even less without interventions like pitocin - and now even less than that for me since I have now had a safe and successful VBAC) versus the risk of placenta accretia, incretia, and percreatia which is more dangerous than a uterine rupture. So the 2 stars is pretty much for the very rude phone call I got from them making me feel like I was stupid when I was actually making a very informed decision for the health of my baby and I. So to all csection mamas out there please know that you have an option and please do the research on ALL of the risks and ask A LOT of questions.
