We are the only Reform Jewish Congregation associated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) in our area.

Story

We welcome you to the only Reform Jewish congregation in Ocala, Florida that is affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). Our congregation was founded in 1977 by a group of men and women who had the desire to bring Jewish meaning into their lives through an active and caring community. Our congregation strives to provide the kind of worship services, Jewish education for children and adults, and a variety of programs and activities which create a thriving and vibrant community.

As in many small congregations we enjoy the advantage of creating a feeling of an extended family for our members. We have celebrated together and have supported each other in difficult times. We have studied together over the years and have sung and danced and “eaten a lot of good Jewish food.”

Mission

Temple Beth Shalom is a Reform Jewish Congregation dedicated to creating an environment that encourages its members to worship, learn, celebrate and grow together so that each person will have the fullest opportunity to share the beauty of Jewish expression and experience. We emphasize meaningful worship and spiritual growth for all participants while taking into consideration our ever-changing and diverse congregation and its life cycle and social action needs.
