Story

At Temple Beth Sholom, our diversity is our strength; we have Jewish members from all corners of the United States and around the globe, from many different backgrounds. Our congregation includes over 140 membership units (families, seniors, couples and singles).

As a Reconstructionist synagogue, our membership is diverse in practice, and varied in observance. Our smaller size means that everyone is important to our Temple - no one gets lost in the woodwork.

Our goal is to serve the Jews of the diverse surrounding communities by offering a Jewish community that strives to meet the needs of all members whether it be for social, religious or life-cycle events.

Mission

Temple Beth Sholom is dedicated to being a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive center for Jewish life in Salem, Oregon, and its surrounding areas, by creating and cultivating opportunities for Jewish learning, culture and celebration. As an affiliate of the Jewish Reconstructionist Federation, Temple Beth Sholom facilitates the search for meaning in Jewish heritage through the discovery and observance of Jewish values and practices within a contemporary setting. Our diverse membership includes all ages and backgrounds, and all play a part in our collective community life.
