So…worried about what to wear? Concerned about whether you will know when to stand or sit. Anxious about navigating prayers in Hebrew? Worried about being welcomed if you aren’t Jewish, but happen to be interested in Jewish community and Judaism?
If you are a wannabee visitor, but you are worried about what you know, how much you don’t, and whether flip flops are acceptable shoeware at services, try us out. Temple Or Olam is an inclusive place (yes, we accept people wearing ties, too!). We are independent, fully egalitarian, and Jewish Renewal (you can learn more about Jewish Renewal at our website at www.or-olam.org). We are exceedingly family-friendly and we love to have college students and twenty-somethings hang out with us. Those aging and saging are also encouraged to bring us their experience and wisdom. LGBT people are welcome. Temple Or Olam is a place for growing Jewishly with ease and comfort, in the company of friends.
We serve folks from North Charlotte, University City, and Cabarrus County. Our members come from as far north as Statesville and as far south as Indian Trail. We meet at Piedmont Unitarian Universalist Church, 9704 Mallard Creek Rd., Charlotte NC 28262. Our membership is inclusive and diverse. We are affiliated with ALEPH, the Alliance for Jewish Renewal. Rabbi Dr. Barbara Thiede leads our services with boundless and infectious enthusiasm.
