Story

It only takes one visit to our classic Southern diner to understand why folks in Port Lavaca always put Texas Traditions high on their list of favorite local eateries. Our food is great, our staff is friendly, and our prices are just right. We serve up a wide selection of made-from-scratch home and country-style dishes, from chicken-fried steak and sandwiches to shrimp platters, BBQ, and delicious ribeye. Our team likes to joke that if you can’t find something on our menu to enjoy, you probably just aren’t hungry! The only thing we're prouder of than the dishes we serve is the support we get each day from our community. We welcome guests in with a smile and treat them to a home-cooked meal just like Grandma used to make.

The salad bar and dessert at this place is spectacular and the fried oysters are super tasty too. If you're looking for down home cooking then you'll probably like their daily specials, which are usually stuff like chicken spaghetti or chicken and dumplings.

Overall this is a solid choice if you're looking for a quick bite, especially if you're really craving a slice of pie or cheesecake. ;)

In downtown, really nice atmosphere for family.
Ordered chicken fried steak and was delicious and great prices. Serving size is pretty goos as well
My husband got grilled salmon and loved it very much
They also make homemade pies! Will definitely be back

Great food and staff.  My  husband said his chicken and dumplings were the best he ever had.  I had the chicken spaghetti.  It was very good.  Our server Lexxie was so attentive and nice.  Will definitely be back to try some of the other things on the menu.  Well I will.  My husband will surely have the chicken and dumplings again.  Oh and the green beans and rolls were really good too.

Great atmosphere.  We had the chicken fried steak and it was really good. Also had the homemade "Ding Dong".  It was absolutely delicious!
