How anyone could give this place less than 5 stars, I'll never know. It is one of the most memorable hotels we've stayed at in the US. Very elegant and cozy. The staff is the complete opposite of uptight! They are all so very sweet and accommodating. We had a corner suite (room 154) with plenty of room for us and our baby. The jacuzzi tub and steam shower surrounded by marble was a nice touch. We had our own vanities and sinks too! Every single restaurant is great--excellent food choices for indulgent behavior as well as super healthy & clean. The grounds are beautiful, especially with the Green Room where thy serve tea in the middle of a garden inside a glass room. I'd love to come back again!

Not happy about the service at all. The hotel is quite  neat, an huge old style mansion, beautiful chandeliers, a lot of hallways and rooms, old photographs on the wall. We usually enjoy this style a lot! However despite nice atmosphere, the service does not match the price category. We arrived at 2pm, were told that they usually check in at 4pm (that late!?), but our room would be ready way before that. However, it wasn't ready until we finally complained shortly before 4pm! The banquet we were attending was at 5pm so hardly any time to get ready. Have never been to a luxury hotel before where they don't check you in right away! And then all the excuses at the service desk - we had a large group last night, it takes one hour to clean a room etc. Hire more maids, that's what people pay for. Our experience was definitely spoiled, and it could have been amazing!

Visiting from Chicago for girls overnight at Kohlers Spa. Toilet running in our room and toilet clogged in other room. Was told to wait for Check in as we arrived early, left my bag at concierge who promised to get my bag to room by the time room it was ready. Back 2 hours later to Che k if room was available and ready, no bag at room. Waited 30 more minutes, went back to concierge to get bag myself. I liked the complimentary coffee until 10am & the male concierge who tried to accommodate my requests for water frequently. Overpriced hotel suitable for couples and seasoned hotel goers

Gorgeous property and outstanding customer service. The reason for only 3 stars is our room was not available by the guaranteed 4pm check in time and then the first room we were assigned smelled like a fryer due to venting issues from the pub located a floor below. That being said everyone from the front desk to the bellhop were helpful and apologetic/understanding. If you’re looking for a romantic weekend look at the affiliated carriage house above the spa as the American Club at times felt like a family retreat with kids running around in all directions during the day, the carriage house is 16+ only.

Absolutely incredible! Spend my marriage night there, impeccable service and accommodations!  Possibly he most comfortable bed I've ever experienced.  Building is very cool and historic with a great history.  Staff falls over each other to make your stay super special.  If you want to treat yourself and your lovie, this is the place!!!
