I ordered the pesto sandwich with eggplant and would highly recommend it for it those looking for a vegetarian option. I ate their bakers cookie and it was really good. I drank their brown butter latte and it was ok, slightly better than a regular latte. I am interested in coming back and trying a couple of their cakes. From the display they look delicious

Ordered a berry roll and a brownie, and also got a loaf of rosemary Meyer lemon sourdough loaf. Got to the register and the lights went out...there was also a line out the door, but they kept going and had a case full of baked goods. Cash worked at the time, register worked, but no wifi. The items we purchased were all delicious and we will go back again when we are in Auburn! Thank you and yum!!

Wonderfully good and fresh foods.  Perfect balance of ingredients too.  Perfect quantity of meat to other ingredients ratio.  Fresh breads daily too, for you bread affectionados.  Cakes and pastries are very tasty made and change daily too!

Ordered the potatoe and ham quiche for dine in. Lots of potatoes, little sliced ham and even less taste. The dish came with simply dressed greens and bread. Chai tea tasted like milk. Definitely had better luck with the almond croissant and apple pastry that I ordered to go - flaky and full of flavor! Prices reasonable for specialty bakery. For a weekday morning, they stayed busy and kept the line moving efficiently.

I always do enjoy this place for their scones and food quality… : But don’t order the hipster toast if you’re hungry. It’s tasty, but you get a very very thin amount of avocado and only half the amount of food that comes on the sandwiches for the same price.

There have been several bakeries in this location that have tried to fulfill Hilda's Bakery footsteps. None of them were able to continue the high standards we were used to, until now. The Baker and the Cake Maker delivers deliciously addicting baked goods and lunch items. The roast turkey sandwich was buttery and flavorful on a croissant. The breakfast salad was fresh and delicious with a vinaigrette dressing. I was surprised the $12 sandwich didn't include a side. I left feeling full, but not weighted down. It would be wonderful if the bakery offered half sandwich with a soup or salad combination.  I would recommend an overhang where the tree is located. Items from the tree kept falling onto us and getting into our drinks. This could be a great lunch date spot. Since downtown Auburn has lots of boutique to explore, if you'd like to prolong the date. Great lunch stop, more of a California cafe for loaves and lunch fare and likely homey pastries than artisanal bakeshop. Got a delicious pesto sandwich chock full of veg and roasted eggplant. Pesto sauce was moist and seedy. Panzanella salad with squash, shiitake, daikon was also great, although more greens than bread, and the Asian-inspired flavours were delicious.

Great experience! So grateful I remembered to go in there today. I had a last-minute request for a specialty item. I almost forgot to order a cake for my wife’s birthday, and they specially adjusted some of their pastries for sale to my liking. Well done.

The best baked goods!  Today I had the breakfast salad, a blueberry cream coffee and picked up a few yummy things to share with the family later at home.

It's a good job I live too far away to come here every day as I would be a round as a barrel! The snail pastries here are as good as it gets with a buttery flakey texture, plump raisins and an almost caramelized sticky base. Coffee is good and the bread is excellent. Love this place.
