Story

The Bike Rack opened at it's current location in Logan Circle in May of 2007, offering full bike service, pro bike fits, and of course brand new spanking bicycles. We have always strived to be an inclusive bike shop encouraging riders of all skill levels and employing a diverse array of great people.

Our Brookland location opened in April of 2015, and has always been a full service bike shop sharing space with an expert local coffeeshop. In 2017 we partnered with Fox Loves Taco in Brookland to offer bikes, coffee, and breakfast tacos to become a true triple threat.

Since day one the Bike Rack has been a proud Giant/Liv Bikes dealer, and we also carry Surly, All City, Cinelli, and more. Come check us out and see what all the fuss is about.

Friendly neighborhood bike shop for everyone from casual rider to commuter to racer. Retail sales and bike servicing. They have frequent classes, workshops, developmental rides, and more. I've found it very welcoming compared to other shops.

After giving them a bike that worked and about 200 bucks, they managed to return it in unrideable condition...twice. It's clear they don't fully test your bike before returning it. On top of that, they're extremely condescending. First I went in for a tune up, and after taking it just around the block the crankset came completely detached. After I returned and pointed this out, they tried to blame me for having an "old bike" that was "too big for me". I gave them the benefit of the doubt and paid for them to try putting a new part in. When I picked it up, the pedal fell off after just a few minutes of riding. Before this, I'd ridden this bike for several months without issue and had only had needed minor maintenance, which I'd typically done at BicycleSpace in Adams Morgan (who are absolutely great). I figured I'd try the Bike Rack since they're closer but will never be going back. Biking in DC is dangerous enough without having to worry about your bike falling apart in the middle of the road.

Before I got my bike, the guys at the shop were really patient and helpful. They let me try on a number of things; different stems, lots of adjustments. They didn't complain although I took a lot of their time. They even helped me with a preliminary fit. Unfortunately, that's where the good things ended. In the first week of riding, my seatpost fell in as I was riding. My handlebars slipped and turned downwards after going over a bump. Recently, my saddle became loose as well and I noticed this only during a ride. These are things I've never tinkered with so none of this should be happening. I did write them an email much before I posted this review and also mentioned this in their feedback but sadly, they didn't even get back to me about it.

They have a good bike selection. They do have nice accessories. We went in, roamed around the shop for about 5 minutes, some of the staff were free, but nobody asked us if we needed help or even said welcome folks.

Great service, reasonable prices, amazing staff. Excellent location for bike repairs. Bring it by during the day, and for minor repairs (chain, cassette, cables) they can usually do it while you go get lunch. Story time: I had a flat tire, and stopped by to get a replacement tube. Said I'd swap it myself - nbd, I've seen a video of how to do it, wcgw? They have a pump out front for anyone to use. As I'm outside, fighting with the tire and making a fool of myself, the manager swings by and gives me some helpful tips. I still manage to tear my new tube (they're about to close at this point) and the manager tries again to help, but I'm helpless. He takes the wheel, replaces the tube in seconds (on the house) and I'm able to ride home. Now I've got their next monthly free bike maintenance class on my calendar. Amazing members of the community!
