Absolutely top notch food, beverages and service. Have never had the slightest of disappointments here. Food is delicious and creative. Great selection of beer, whiskey and other cocktails. Service is super pro. These folks know how to do hospitality. Yes the dining area is a bit small, yes it can be a bit busy, yes you can wait a while to get a table. But, that is a non-issue compared to the dining experience you will get! It is worth it. As they say "If it was easy, everyone would do it". Not everyone can do what these guys do. Bravo Black Birch.

Tired after eating at “all the same places in New England” we were so happy to eat good food. Good quality ingredients and prepared well. Starting with olives and pickled veggies and ending with amazingly sweet and delicious pork shank and delicate and tasteful swordfish. Service and atmosphere are great. Looking forward to coming here again.

To call the food here amazing seems like a bit of an understatement, but to call it transcendent seems too excessive, so somewhere between amazing and transcendent. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the staff was great, and the entire experience from sipping a cocktail while waiting for our table to walking out stuffed and happy was incredible. 

Two very small issues, one being my own hangup. 
1. (My own hangup) We were seated at a single table with another couple. They were super friendly and nice, but I'm a bit of an introvert. No points lost for this, just be aware that on a busy evening you may be dining communally. 

2. The dish pit/kitchen area is right near the restroom out back and is open concept; the young man in there on the night we were there could stand to invest in some anti-antiperspirant deodorant.

Super trendy, relaxed and amazing food. Thoughtful preparation with perfect execution. In my opinion, the quality ranks above that of the highly rated Moxy in downtown Portsmouth. The only drawback is the size (making a table or bar spot exclusive - a reservation is absolutely essential). Their tap list and available spirits are also extensive and well-curated!

Consistently delicious new american food with a hipster atmosphere. I can get past that because the food is great. The beer selection is always varied with some great choices guaranteed. The prices have slowly crept up since they opened but are still reasonable considering the quality you get. My wife and I try to make a visit every couple months and love the frequently changing menu. Go early (10-15 min before 5) or be prepared to wait for 30 minutes to an hour plus.
