The Central is a Casual, American Restaurant which features seasonally-inspired menus with a blend of cultures and flavors.

Story

The restaurant has an open kitchen concept featuring a custom stone hearth wood fired grill. The stone hearth grill is the primary means of cooking turning out delicious, smoke-kissed-meats, seafood and vegetables over a live hardwood fire. Our full bar features Maine craft beer, wine and cocktails.

Our seasonal affordable menu with handcrafted preparations will be skillfully simple, quick, healthy and delicious. As we move into dinner service the focus will shift even more to foods prepared over the live hard wood fire. Choices of grilled meats, seafood and poultry with creative sides along with other classic dishes from the sauté station surely please. The addition of an ever-changing, small plates menu with classic and creative preparations is also popular at night to start off our guests evening, enjoyed as a complete meal or simply shared by the whole table. We also have a Cookshack Smoker in the back kitchen turning out mouthwatering pit smoked meats, seafood and handmade sausages likely to become some of our signature items.

Brisket burger was good. The meat was delicious, but having it served on a bun kind of took away from the texture. Beer selection was small, but high quality. Lighting was extremely dim.

Awesome food, great menu and not Bar food. A little small and a bit noisy because it is a bar/restaurant. But if you don't mind the noise it is a great place to stop and eat.

One of my favorite places in town. Friendly owners. Quality clean food. Cocktails are delicious.

We had a wonderful time at The Central. The staff  was very nice and helpful. the service was quick. The food was fantastic. We are vegetarians and found interesting and creative options like a warm Soba stir fry, baked goat cheese with olives, roasted tomatoes and onions with arugula pesto. 
  We also had great local draft beers. 
The chef was Culinary Institute trained and worked for noted chef as I was and this showed in the excellent perpetration.  
The dining area and bar was noisy. but that was not a problem.

Surprisingly good tapas in York. My wife and I really enjoy tapas and, while looking for a place to eat, came across The Central and decided to try it. We were both really happy we did. Good selection and great service. The place can get crowded but you can enjoy a drink in the bakery next door while you wait for your table. Highly recommend it.
