We went to The Gage on St. Patrick’s Day, right after the parade. We made reservations in advance and they moved seamlessly. Despite being packed in the bar area, they had regular seating with reservations and our service was excellent. We expected the place to be busy on St. Patrick’s Day and it was, but the staff was amazing. They moved quickly, kept crowds away from tables and the service was top notch. They didn’t make you feel rushed just because they were busy. The food was phenomenal. They made a leprechaun cake hat with gold flecked ice cream. The had the regular menu available, as well as a special St. Patrick’s Day menu. And they even had a bagpiper going room to room. I’ve been a Chicagoan for over two decades and I expected chaos. I was so surprised by how flawlessly they managed everything and their quality was not compromised in any way. This place is one of the best in Chicago. Kid-friendliness: We’ve brought our elementary-aged child to The Gage many times. We just sit in the restaurant and she has plenty of menu options.
This place was exceptionally good. I came because I saw lobster frites on the menu. I’d never had lobster prepared that way before and it did not disappoint. I also ordered the ahi tuna tartare and an apple fennel salad. All were a great value for the cost, as they tasted great and the portions were generous. I highly recommend.Food: 5/5
We sat on the patio with a view of Millennial Park. Service was attentive but not in a rush. Thanks Abigail. Food was prepared wonderfully and the portions were unexpectedly large. I definitely recommend the Croque Madame. You won’t walk away hungry. Atmosphere reminded me of a Parisian cafe.
I was there for restaurant week lunch. The service was incredible. The shrimp toast had a weird flavor to it for me. Think it was the dill. Steak frites were great. The steak was cooked to perfection and the fries were good. The only thing to note was the quality of the steak which wasn't the best but for $25 I couldn't complain.Food: 4/5
Great place for a little dinner date. Food is always phenomenal and so as the drinks! Service can sometimes be a little slow but that means they are just busy! One recommendation would be to make the chips a bit crispier!Food: 5/5
Came here for brunch during Chicago Restaurant Week last month. The location is absolutely perfect. Right by Millennium Park and Just a block away from The Bean. I've been to this restaurant before, with my girlfriends over drinks but this time I also tried food. The restaurant week menu had all the dishes from their regular one. They had 3 course menu; from each course, out of 2-3 options, you get to choose one. From the first course, I went for apple & fennel salad. I usually enjoy salad but this one had very imbalanced dressing, flavors weren't tasty. From the second course I ordered butter chicken. Being south asian myself, I had very high expectations. But it wasn't authentic. Chicken was overdone and a bit chewy. But flavors did taste good though NOT authentic. The third course was of the desserts. I tried Caramel Mocha'iato. It was heavenly. It just melted in the mouth the moment it touched my lips. Giving a 3 rating, even though the food was decent and the ambiance was wonderful, but the only thing I would critique was that our service was a bit subpar. The first thing after stepping in, I ordered was a cappuccino. I was literally on my second course and my coffee hadn't even arrived. When I brought to my servers notice, he was apologetic that he missed it which i appreciate the apology. However, Service all in all was a bit lackluster. They totally have the potential to improve upon the service. However, I enjoyed my brunch despite the service because of the company!
We really enjoyed this restaurant. It’s right by Millenial Park and has a chef driven menu plus good cocktails. We had steak and pasta. All of it was good! The Brussels Sprouts Au Gratin and fried pickles were good appetizers.
A decade ago, we had the pleasure of discovering The Gage and it still remains one of the most phenomenal and unforgettable dining experiences we've ever had. The food is so delicious that it's almost indescribable, and every bite leaves a lasting impression. But it's not just the food that makes The Gage stand out - it's the impeccable service from the management, servers, and staff that truly sets this restaurant apart. Every detail is attended to with care, making every moment spent at The Gage a truly great experience.
Our party of 4 was seated in the covered outdoor area, as it was packed in the dining room.. they're doing well! We all had burgers, 2 classic 2 venison, and they were fantastic!! Fries were very nicely cooked, crunchy. Excellent food and good service. Will return for burgers. Highly recommended
Sunday Brunch - We had some tasty drinks to start, and they were all delicious! We followed with the Pub Scotch Egg and pickle chips. Our mains were wedge salad with salmon, shrimp grits, and pork belly eggs benedict. Everything was delicious. Service was prompt. Couldn't have asked for more.Food: 4/5
