My ex had bought me a necklace from here less than 6 months ago. When I took it to another jewelry store they told me that it was worth $25 when I had seen it priced online for $575 which is obviously what he had paid for it. I then went to go ask them about it and they told me that it was like “art” and that it couldn’t be appraised because it was a one and only. They do not do store credit and they were very much so less than helpful. I spoke the assistant manager where he proceeded to roll his eyes at me and told me that they had been offering me lower than the price because they were mad because I didn’t but it from them. Don’t waste your money. I’m now stuck with a necklace that they even refuse to appraise because they “don’t but jewelry.” When I claimed that it had been a rip off he said “I know” and when I called him on it he denied saying it. Don’t waste your time on a terrible assistant manager on poor quality and poor customer service. I worked as a manager for close to three years and would NEVER treat a customer the way I was treated.

I bought an engagement setting from this store in 07-2015. My wife already had the center stone (family heirloom) She loved the setting and the ring looked great when we took it home. I needed to get the ring appraised for insurance purposes, Jewelry Exchange in Villa Park, IL does not do appraisals. I took it to another jewelers that does appraisals. When I picked the ring up, the jeweler advised me of a small hole in the setting. He pointed it out and stated that there is no way my wife could have caused the damage and that is was a manufacturers defect. I went to the Jewelry Exchange with my wife and showed it to the jewelers there, who also agreed this wasn't damage caused by my wife.  They sent it to their corporate office to be looked at. I received a call today from them, the employee explained to me that they would not fix the ring free of charge because it has been over a year since I purchased it. I explained that we didn't know the damage was there until a professional jeweler notified us of the hole and that it is not something a consumer would find on their own. Although the employee agreed with me, she advised that they would not fix the setting free of charge. I will not use them to repair the damaged ring they sold me and I will never purchase anything from this store again. I would advise anyone that reads this to avoid this jewelry store. They will not stand by their products!

We went here to get my diamond engagement ring put into a new setting. Before we could even start looking they asked for my diamond to check it out. Then they called us over and told us it wasn’t a real diamond. You can’t imagine the shock we were in! She told us we could get another opinion, but she had never seen a cut like this before and she couldn’t even identify what it was. We left in shock and returned home to get our 2 previous appraisals. We then went to a reputable jewelry store.  The jeweler examined it with his equipment (not a silly little device that read colors, which is what she used at the Jewelry Exchange) and reassured us that it was definitely a diamond. He was completely baffled that she wouldn’t be able to identify it as a diamond.  I cannot believe that a place that deals with diamonds could do this and upset us this badly. She claimed the silly little device was new and showed me how it worked on her diamond. She even looked through the jewelers loop. Needless to say, we will not be returning there EVER! Would give this place 0 stars, but it won’t let me.

This took way too long to leave a review.  They are awesome and even talked me down to a lesser ring instead of over selling me. My wife couldn't have been happier.  I'm bummed I forgot alot of names but I believe Mike was the first to help me, the regional manager came out (has a great mustache) and explained diamonds to me and was the one who told me not to buy too big for my setting and Julie ? the manager (sorry if thats not her name) was great too.  Thanks for getting me over the hump and getting a ring in my hands.  Also for all those you read these one star reviews, they are VERY UPFRONT about their policies. Im sure there are thousands of people who are as happy as I am and just don't leave a review.  GO IN, then make your decision. Thanks again!
