The New School has transformed my son's life. The nurturing, innovative learning and teaching he receives there has given him the tools he needs for success, not only for academics, but for a successful life. He learns how to solve problems creatively and feels supported and encouraged to reach beyond his comfort zone and do his best to try new things. I can't say enough good things about The New School. We moved here from out of state and it was by far the best choice we could have made for schools. Thank you, New School!

In one word, prejudice. There wasn't any written evaluation regarding my child's level as to why she wasn't offered enrollment. She came from another private school at a kindergarten level. There was nothing like, "we would love to have her if she could work on the following areas before admission...and so on" it was just said to me after two days of mandatory tours and shadowing in the class, my child's hopes getting up, that she would not be a good fit for their school. Over the phone though at first was different. Then after being told there would be financial assistance for her as I'm a single parent, meeting in person felt as we were being judged. Private school should be a diverse atmosphere and different levels of learners. As an educator in early childhood education myself, I wanted the best environment for my child. It was a complete disappointment after putting so much effort and prayer into the interview process to see that they are prejudice against low income families.

I cannot express fully what The New School has meant to our child and family. Many places say they are 'a community' or 'a family'. At the New School you have both, you actually do. You have teachers who have real relationships with your children--who care if they succeed or not. Small class sizes and devoted educators make that possible. You have an administration constantly working to make the school a safe and engaging environment and staff who know that their jobs make a difference to parents and students alike. The New School is helping us to develop our child as a good person, her mind and her confidence in real partnership. Her love of learning, once in question, has truly blossomed. The only drawback is that they don't go all the way to high school!
