As a rockhoundette, this place suited me fine.
Clean, inexpensive,  very friendly and close to sites  and curious rock formations, which is why I stayed there. I am returning. 
Breakfast was carbs and coffee, but just down the street was a fine cafe with bacon and eggs.
Location, location, location is why you come and stay,  the town was friendly. Bring a cooler for extra food/ water, if your traveling  about the sights in this part of the state.

This place was a cute, cozy little place. Nice sized rooms and great old fashioned atmosphere. Super friendly staff. My only complaint was the bed (like the other reviewer said)--they squeaked really really loud whenever you moved an inch and they really hurt my back. If you're only staying a night, you can probably manage.

A bit on the rustic side but hey, it's an old historic hotel so that should be expected. Good time, would come back. Breakfast was a bit thin - basic coffee and Costco muffins.

The worst bed I have ever paid to sleep in. Hotel is beautiful old-style. Really close to Painted Hills, but both beds (room 1) were back destroyers.

It's the only option.  It's inexpensive.  Nice hot coffee in the morning.   
Noisey children.  Not the friendliest staff at the hotel but the staff in the local cafe well fabulous.
