The Pines Tavern is a not-so-secret gem in the North Hills.  The chefs pay much attention to detail. The food is always good, the atmosphere as well. Wait staff is attentive. Decor is classic. My go-to when I want good food.

The waiter was excellent. Most of the 6 people who dined enjoyed their meals. We arrived at 6:18 and were told, in no uncertain terms, that our reservation was for 630 and we would not be seated until 630. I was ok with that except there was no other place to sit so we had to try to avoid patrons and wait staff as they walked by. The entire time our seats to be, in the corner, sat empty.  I don't understand why we could not have at least been seated. We didn't need to be waited on until 630. We would have understood that. The wait between the appitizers and the main meal was extensive. We did receive apologies from staff. However, they must be doing a lot of things right as the restaurant was very busy. I encourage anyone to give them a try. Their menu selections are many and selection varied.

Really impressed.  I went to a work party here and was shocked with how great everything was... nice decorations for the holidays, great food, drinks, service.  Looking forward to going back in the summer and using the patio.  Highly recommend giving them a try.

What a surprise! A really good lunch in Gibsonia PA! Despite the tavern designation, this is a white tablecloth restaurant with prices to match, though it does have a small pub room that is more casual. It is not fast casual. Service was leisurely on a Wednesday between Christmas and New Years, but food was excellent. We may have been the only patrons under 70. It pulls in the (elderly) ladies who lunch. Good place for a business lunch I would say. Not a great place for little kids. Service too slow, and refined atmosphere requires reliably good manners. Reservations recommended. It is a famous and popular spot.
