The Public Library for Union County offers free, public access to all of its resources. The library’s collections and services are developed and maintained for the education, intellectual stimulation, and pleasure of all residents of the county community. Accordingly, library materials and programs reflect a commitment to enriching and to enhancing the lives of all patrons.
In fulfilling its mission, the Public Library for Union County affirms its dedication to three principles: intellectual freedom, the public’s right to know, and the inclusion of diverse points of view. The library strives to meet the informational needs of the community, to make the public aware of its resources, and to actively encourage patrons of all ages to fully utilize its resources.
The library’s materials collection currently includes 97,471 books and 5,203 audio-visual items such as books on tape and CD, music CDs, videotapes, and DVDs. The non-circulating reference collection features a variety of valuable resources, including a “Pennsylvania Collection” of most major genealogical and Pennsylvania history texts.
The library also offers creative and educational programs for children, teens, and adults throughout the year.
