I have not stayed as a guest in this hotel, but my best friend and I did visit the hotel and did a night ghost tour. The hotel is beautiful and has lots of history. We were blown away by the tour itself, because it was so much fun! Our tour guide was Andrew (Voo-drew) and we gave him a generous tip, that was much deserved. I could not stop laughing, and he kept us engaged throughout the entire tour, which was about 2 hours long. We highly recommend it!

Picture this : you're in a beautiful quaint secluded little mountain town with views of the Rocky Mountains in 360 degrees in every direction. Now enter the Stanley Hotel, with its turn of the century architecture, history, friendly, knowledgeable staff, not to mention a great bar with great food and specialty cocktails, daytime tours divulging the history of the hotel and the development of the area, and the night time ghost tours to share some of the special paranormal activity that goes on in the hotel among all of its buildings, and you've just made for a wonderful weekend getaway. I would highly recommend spending a long weekend in Estes Park and visiting the Stanley. Estes Park is about an hour and a half drive from the Denver Airport, and if you cannot get a room at the Stanley, there are many lovely quaint cottage and cabin-type hotels in the area within five minutes of the Stanley, so you can still visit every day and take the tours. Don't forget to take a trip into Rocky Mountain National Park while you're there!

Great atmosphere! The food was slightly more expensive, but understandable for such a well-known location. All the food we had was excellent, and we ate very much! Since they're well known for their whiskey variety, we tried 6 different types. All types were great in there own unique way. Definitely worth the trip!

We booked a room at the lodge. Remodeled fairly recently but not a very good remodel. The countertop in the bathroom in the room we had was cut about 3 inches too short for the cabinets. Really low in tile in the bathrooms. Out-of-date bathtub and fixtures. Room looked a lot better than the bathroom and was clean. Food at the restaurant was excellent however the staff in the restaurant all seem to be brand new. Ghost tour was fun. If you have hopes of seeing the maze your hopes will be destroyed once you see the edges are only 3 ft tall. That being said if you're going there for the historic value as well as the supernatural element then you won't be disappointed but just do not expect a room anywhere near the money you're spending.

Our time at the Stanley could have been amazing if it were not so dirty. We paid rates for one of their nicer rooms which was on the first floor in the main hotel on the corner of one of the wings. When we first came to our room we were very surprised at how filthy the hallway and stairs to our room were. We walked past bags of trash and dirty carpets with chunks of debris including huge dust balls, twigs, papers, dirt etc. On our first night there after walking past the mess several times I called the front desk and asked them to have someone clean the hallway. They apologized and assured me they would get to it right away. The next day nothing had been done and so I went to the front desk and asked them again to clean the filthy hallway explaining that we have expectations that were not being met. The front desk woman assured me it would be handled right away. We are leaving tomorrow in the morning and after a 2 night 2 day stay at $500.00 plus dollars the place is still a filthy mess. Really disappointing!
