The service and atmosphere is good , but the food is terrible. We tried a lot of food and I did not like anything. Seabass was chewy, cheesecake just not tasty like the rest of the food. Burrata just boring. My point the food is not balanced with flavors and so on. Like the menu was not designed by real chef ‍. Very weird mix of ingredients and so on.
Had both breakfast and dinner there. Food is not cheap but decent. Service was pretty good. Our server Leo, Jose and Antony were amazing.Food: 4/5
5 stars all around. The service was exceptional. The hostess asked us if we were celebrating a special occasion and we told her my wife’s birthday. When you walk in they have dining arrangements nice couches to sit. We tried the kimchi dressed Brussels sprouts, niman rib eye and lobster pasta. Our servers Gracie and Martin were excellent. Constantly kept a full cup and were inquiring politely about our meal. At the end of the meal they provided a complimentary dessert of choice with a candle.
Lot of options for vegetarians and also the ones on strict diet. Cozy rustic place beautiful for a weekend morning breakfast. Friendly welcoming service and nice fireplace. I think we missed the pancake/waffle live counter which was outside.Food: 5/5
My husband and I took a beautiful Sunday drive from Monterey to a longtime favorite destination over the past 30 years, the Carmel Valley Ranch Resort. We dined at their Valley Kitchen off at this great hotel set in a gorgeous setting, overlooking the swimming pool and patio. We both wanted to have an egg dish at lunch today at 2:30 pm as we were a bit late for their Breakfast hours. The Lunch menu had many tempting choices and the item we both selected was the Valley Kitchen’s Swing Omelet. This amazingly delicious and very unique omelet features Sauteed Shrimp, Smoked Bacon, Monterey Jack Cheese, Spinach, Mushroom, Avocado Aioli, Pico de Gallo plus a choice of toast and a choice of salad, fruit or country potatoes. Service was attentive and we were very well cared for by our server, Alex, who has worked there for several years. It was my husband’s birthday recently, so after lunch, we stopped off at their ice cream sundae bar served in their Gift Store which was fun and creative. We sat outside on their front patio and enjoyed the ice cream adorned with a number of colorful sweet toppings, from chocolate to caramel sauce, Oreo cookies, mini-m and m’s and more. We noted that the Valley Kitchen also has a great menu for Breakfast with lots of unique and traditional favorites. For both Lunch and Dinner, the Valley Kitchen also has a terrific menu, and we plan to come back and try some of their sandwiches on their Lunch menu which includes Hot Pastrami, Grilled Chicken, CVR Burger, Smash burger, and a Rancho Caprese Sandwich. They also have three types of Tacos and many interesting Salads too plus a Hummus and Harvest plate we’d love to try. The dinner menu looks great and includes light fare such as Seared Cabbage, Swank ranch salad, Burrata and Stone Fruit, Scallops, Beet Salad, Scallops and more. For main entrees they have Sweet Corn, Crab and Shrimp risotto, Lobster Paccheri Pasta, Salmon, Alaskan Halibut, 14-ounce Niman Ranch ribeye, Citrus Half Chicken, Duck Garganelli Pasta, Bourbon and Rum Braised Short Ribs and a 16-ounce Bone-In Pork Chop. Can’t wait to come back soon and try some of these items from their talented chefs. We have stayed at the hotel in the past and it truly is a wonderful family-friendly luxurious well-run sanctuary in the middle of Carmel Valley, with lots of places to relax and overlook their vineyard, golf course, majestic oak trees with lacy lichen, and the great mountains of the nearby Ventana Wilderness. The resort summarizes, “From tasty s’mores to tasteful suites, playful activities to artisan treats, Carmel Valley Ranch is a 500-acre oasis focused on fun.” Check it out!
Starters were good. Lobster risotto- portion was rather small but taste was fine. Mary’s chicken- this plate really upset me frankly. One strip of chicken breast cut and a piece of wing?!! and side was different from the description but not explained. I am not sure if anyone would expect this for 44 dollar dish. Desserts - tastes were not great but good on your eyes.
Had both breakfast and dinner here. The breakfast here is okay, and the dinner is better! I love the lobster risotto that I had. The waiter is very friendly and attentive, and is happy to adjust the dish for my diet restrictions. The panna cotta is very delicate and delicious! Highly recommended Food: 5/5
We celebrated a birthday there. I was excited to eat dinner at this restaurant. I experienced lackluster service and food. The server will disappear. No spoon given for the seafood stew. The flavor was very light, which to be fair might be good for some pallets. For the price, very little seafood included. The house wines were terrible with a bitter finish. Beautiful views of The Valley and Vinyard. We also sat at the bar before dinner and experienced lack of of attention. Employees were busy chatting. The drinks were very good.
Came here on the Saturday. And looks like it’s a decent one since it has 4 stars. The waiters are very friendly. The ambiance is nice too. BUT, the food is horrible. Ordered a tuna poke and it’s $23 and it’s horrible. We literally took 2 bites. Bacon and eggs... the easiest brunch item and it was just edible. And the lobster BLTA, not horrible .. I’ll say it’s acceptable. And total bill come out to be $110..... highly recommend to go to folktale. Very delicious and very friendly price. It’s only 5 min away from the hotel. See my other review for more information.
Amazing food! I got plate "Winter's Catch" it was delicious! My bf got the "Wasabi Crusted Tuna" he also loved it. The food was so fresh, one of the best experinces. Server was very attentive and knowledgeable. Atmosphere was good. If you like red wine I had local Joullian Cabernet Sauvignon, so yummy with a nice sweet hint at first sip. For dessert my bf got "Almond Joy" and I got the carrot cheesecake! So so good. Highly recommend! P.s. they have must try truffle fries!
