The Village Cafe & Art979 Gallery

About

Coffee. Tea. Sandwiches. Beer. Wine. Art. Live music. #Localize!

Story

The Village Cafe is at once a restaurant, a coffee house, an art gallery and a live music and special event venue.

Since opening in 2008 our mission has been to promote local farms and food vendors of the Brazos Valley, and to give all forms of art a stage to be enjoyed as a community.

We proudly serve farm fresh eggs, locally roasted coffee beans and seasonal produce when available.

The walls of the cafe are decorated with the works of a local artist and rotate each month. Our northern-most wall features a permanent mural celebrating all things artistic.

Enjoy live music every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and weekend lunch.

Whether you are here for a casual lunch, business meeting or just a cup of coffee with a good book, we hope you enjoy the community that is The Village.

Great coffee and breakfast. I would say it's probably the best breakfast place in town. Great atmosphere and a fun place to meet with friends. Also fun to go salsa dancing there on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They have fun events most nights of the week.

Village foods is quaint. I can't eat hear anymore because I have gotten cross contamination and been extremely sick the 3 times I've tried. I've informed them I have gluten allergy and they need to be careful but it's always made me so sick. Which is too bad because j really want to be able to eat here. It is very close to my house and has a great atmosphere. With it being such a hipster place that's supposed to be gluten free friendly it would be good to see them take more precautions for their customers if they are going to advertise it. I have tried uncorked a handful of times next door and it is ok. They have a good wine selection but it always feels so awkward in there. Hopefully over time these places will get better because I love living in the downtown Bryan area.

Good food. Fun, quirky vibe. Reasonable prices. My only complaint is parking can be a challenge. Not many spaces. The cafe is great and should be on your dining list.

The food and drinks here are really great. The service tends to be great with the occasional grump. My personal favorite is the Rex Breakfast with a downtown mocha coffee.
