I've been coming here for years. The brunch food is second to none and and just might be the greatest true dive bar in DC. They do fortunately accept credit cards unlike some dives but otherwise there are as true to their roots as could be. The atmosphere is fantastic whether day or night. Cheap drinks, dancing, a great patio in the good weather. I mean there really is nothing they don't do well. If you want a clean, well kept spot with fancy cocktails look elsewhere but if you want some great food and a chill time with friends check it out.

A northwest DC institution. It's been around a long time, so during the week you can enjoy the atmosphere--it feels like what a local neighborhood bar should feel like. The beer selection is great and the food (get the fried chicken sandwich and DEFINITELY the eggplant fries) is surprisingly good for what at first glance is a solid bar. The service is definitely slow, especially on the patio outside, but the best thing to do is go during the week on a Tuesday; it's not crowded, they have local stand-up upstairs, and it's super chill. Definitely nice to see a place like this at a corner full of row houses and local folks. What is potentially NOT good is the weekend sweaty dance party, unless that's what you're looking for, in which case it's great (music could use an upgrade)... wonderland does the switch pretty seamlessly back to its weekly chill however, so it gets 5 stars.

The best thing about Wonderland is that it never changes. We moved out of DC about five years ago. Came back last night and it is just how we remember it. It's nice to have a place you can feel at home in and that you're familiar with, especially in a city that's always changing.

This place has two bars, a live DJ, and reasonably priced beer. If you aren't feeling the DJ, no worries, there are two levels and only one has the DJ. The bar service has been pretty quick in my experience.
