He's an artist. I walked in and told him to give me a flattering cut. I was anxious about the drastic change at first, but, WOW. I love my new cut, and I've gotten so many compliments. My hair is curly and rather sparse, so many stylists have trouble with it. But he is truly skilled and seems to take genuine joy in creating something beautiful. I've recommended him to most of my friends.

I've found my new favorite hairdresser! I've seen Dickie a few times now, and it's clear that both he and Diane really know what they're doing. As long as I'm in New Haven, I'll be returning to the Workshop!

I was really pleased with my haircut. I have wavy to curly hair. It's really difficult to find someone who can work with my naturally multi-textured hair. Really thankful I found this place!

I have to leave one star to post this comment, The workshop and Dikkie does not even deserve one star. I Had my first and last experience with Dikkie at the Workshop. Yet another disgruntled client! This man is rude and arrogant, the state should take away his privilege to cut hair in the State of Connecticut. Apparently he just knows how to do one hair cut we shall call it the poodle mullet. Everyone who has posted explains this same haircut that I received. I brought in a picture of a curly hairstyle that was modern and updated, he said he would not do that haircut for me. he cut the sides an inch above my shoulder and the back is two inches longer than the sides. When I looked in his mirror when he was done working his magic, I couldn't believe it! It will take me 6 months to a year to get a corrective haircut to fix this mess. In the meantime, I am stuck with this ridiculous look. I need to also mention that I am a licensed hairdresser hoping to find a stylist that is experienced with curly hair. WRONG! I have little 1 to 2 inch pieces cut into my hair. He is very dangerous wielding his sheers very close to my eye and my face. I have to go back to work on Monday looking like this! I called the workshop this morning and requested a refund, he called me crazy and told me I was out of my mind. He also mentioned that he knew I was going to be trouble and then hung up on me. I have taken pictures of this hot mess if anyone is intersted in seeing his work. If this post saves one person from going through what I just endured, It will be worth my time.

The entire experience at The Workshop was horrible. I had a haircut that I really liked done in the city and just wanted him to replicate it. The architecture was already there. First of all, the head stylist/owner, Dick told me that I didn't want that and that he would give me sophistication. Strike one. Then, this sophistication that he was promising ended up being a christian conservative looking/suburban mom-do. Major strike two. He is also a bit on the creepy side, but that isn't even strike three, yet. Neither is that my girlfriend got her hair cut there as well, 4 months ago and is still trying to grow out his mistakes. (He made her look like she was wearing a Barbra Bush wig for the record.) Strike three for me just happened yesterday. I really want to try the Deva brand because I have heard such good things about it. Well, he didn't have the pomade that they make, so I wanted him to suggest another product that would take the place. Online this pomade boasts of giving texture plus a curl enhancer, I know what I want and this was it. This guy was combative and antagonistic, telling me that I didn't know what I wanted and when I wanted to learn how to do my hair right, that I should come let him know. I don't think so. What a wierdo, go to the city if you want your hair done right. Don't even buy his products unless you want to get creeped out!
