One of the best if not the best place to seek treatment for your dog in times of need. They require a referral from your veterinary doctor for treatment. The costs are worth it in all respects. You always meet with a veterinarian and a resident or student each appointment. UGA the best animal hospital and care center in the South East. Hopefully your dog doesn't need their services like Pebbles the dog did. She had cancer. UGA treats dogs with horrible diseases and ailments. Not a place you bring you dog for check ups. They are a place that you hope you never have to go to with your dog but if you do then you at least know you are going to some of the best doctors and the best technology.

The UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital opened a new modern facility March 2015. The staff is helpful at every stage from registering to checkout. The Doctor called after my pets surgery to inform me of his status and twice more the following day. I couldn't have asked for a better facility and staff to take care of my precious pet. Additionally, the Doctor was available for follow up phone calls when I had questions. It was worth the 2&1/2 hr. drive to have this world class facility treat my pet.

My dog had emergency surgery here. The staff was amazing! They really cared, and they were extremely thorough. And although surgery is never cheap, I feel like the price was at or below most other places. If I have a similar need in the future, I will come back! It was worth the 1 hour drive.

The doctors, students, and staff at the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital are absolutely the best. Last Sunday I was in absolute hysterics as I brought my dog in. She had eaten something she shouldn't have and needed immediate attention. I wasn't even finished telling the receptionist what was wrong when a vet came out and took my dog back for treatment. It wasn't a very long wait until we were called back and reassured that she was in the best hands and they were very reassuring to me as I was an absolute sobbing mess over how sick my dog was. I was told that she would have to stay over night and they brought her to me so I could cuddle with her before they continued treatment. They gave me as much time as I needed with her. They made sure to call me at the shift change so that I would be up to date on her condition, which was extremely comforting. They also called me as soon as the night shift was over (around 8am) to let me know how my dog was doing and that she was ready to be picked up. The staff at this hospital is the cream of the crop. I have nothing but high praise for them!

My 13 year-old GS mix was recently hospitalized for a week while a team of vets (and students) examined her and ran tests. We had signed the forms and left a deposit for an MRI, but her neurologist decided that this would not provide useful information. Once they had ruled out an infection and determined that she was responding to medication, they sent her home. We appreciated that they didn't run unnecessary (and expensive) tests and that they were understanding of her discomfort/pain and thus her objections to being handled and examined. In the end the bill was still steep (though less than what we had expected), but we had our dog back and on the mend, and we had benefitted not only from having all of the diagnostic options but also multiple teams of specialists (neurology, orthopedics, internal medicine) looking at her.
