Uncle Harry's Deli Restaurant was founded in 1977. It is a Metro Detroit favorite, serving delicious sandwiches,award-winning soups, and homemade pies.
Uncle Harry's Deli Restaurant was founded in 1977 by Harry B. Meltzer. Uncle Harry brought his experience as former owner of The Oakland Health Club ("The Schvitz") to his new business, where he strove to create an authentic Jewish deli restaurant on the Eastside. Following Harry's death in 1993, his youngest son, Rick Meltzer, who had worked for his father at The Schvitz and Uncle Harry's, took over the business. The restaurant continues to be family owned and operated to this day, with numerous family members working there throughout the years.
Uncle Harry's specializes in sandwiches, with 22 specialty creations (all named after family members and close friends) and traditional favorites like the Reuben. Yet fans flock to Uncle Harry's for their homemade soups (matzo ball, cabbage, and a special soup served daily) and pies, as well as Thursday's corned beef and cabbage special. Love Uncle Harry's so much you want to share it with all your friends? We also offer catering and party trays--just stop in or call to ask!
Our family roots are everywhere--on the walls, in the menu, and behind the counter. We've been recognized as a favorite Metro Detroit spot by the Detroit Free Press and featured in local media and food blogs. Come see what has made us so special for the last 40 years!
