My husband and I joined a few months ago, and we love it.  I'm surprised at the negative reviews.  It is new, modern, clean, and the staff is friendly.   My brother is also a member, and he likes it too.

It's okay. This gym has an overabundance of cardio machines, but it has all the essentials in the weight area. You get what you pay for.

I am very happy with UMMC Wellness at Madison.  I think the negative reviews may have been posted prior to the new ownership and management.  I find this to be a very good gym with all the equipment and classes I want without the "fluff" I don't want.  They offer a variety of classes to meet the needs of a diverse group of people.  The staff are friendly, personable, and helpful.  I am very pleased!

I've been a member for about 3 years now and it is a good place to work out. The gym recently changed ownership from the Courthouses to University Wellness Center and it seems to be largely the same but their facilities have been upgraded slightly. One downside to the change is that the hours of operation are not as flexible as they were, particularly on the weekends. The staff are friendly and helpful and they do a good job maintaining the equipment. It's a small gym but that is exactly what I was looking for because the amenity laden larger gyms are significantly more expensive. If you are looking for a no nonsense gym for weightlifting and/or cardio with reasonable monthly dues then University Wellness Center will be a good fit for you.

Be sure to watch for hidden fees.. They don't tell you about but say that you initialed it on your contract. Make sure you read everything be fore you sign! Pay the few extra dollars and go to the Club it is much nicer and staff friendlier.
