In and out in under 30 minutes. The staff members were extremely helpful and friendly. When I got to the back, the employee handling my request was awesome. He was friendly, fast, and gave me much needed guidance on the rest of my name change process. Great experience.

You have to wait 21 days before you apply for Social security numbers, while in other states you don't wait at all. There is no place to complain about it. That is why I hate socialism. When everything is owned by the government, nothing done quickly. I hate to go to DMV , social security office, .... etc. Too much wait for everything. God , please save us from communism

I was so nervous before going to SSA office in Fairfax based on the bad reviews I read but I was surprised that how nice, professional and helpful were the employees. My advise is to first make dure you can apply for a SSN and if you are bring all the documents with you. It’s also important that everyone follow the simple instructions like waiting to be called behind the red line and not talking on phone which I observed many people don’t like to follow. The whole process took 45 minutes for me!!.

Exceptional service from all staff in this office, including security guard, registration agent and SSA representative who handled my request. All were pleasant, respectful, professional and willing to assist. I arrived just after the office opened at 9:00 AM, experienced minimal wait time to register and be called. My entire transaction was completed successfully by 9:40 AM.

The employee servicing our request could have been more helpful. Although he quickly dispatched a pro forma task in good order, when we requested assistance on a more complicated matter relating to application for spousal benefits, he was quick to reject the matter out of hand. I believe he was broadly applying the new "deemed filing' rules which took effect last year to our particular situation when, in fact, our application was not subject to these rules. More time and attention to our request would have made this clear. As a result, I have asked the SSA online consulting service for proper guidance. In conclusion, based on some of the other reviews, it's clear that the service you receive depends on the agent assigned to your case.
