Indeed, this place is quite run down, but for me who visited VT for two weeks and lived in the neighborhood (without car), this self-service launderette did the job just fine. Due to the bad reviews, I wasted some time finding another one, in vain. Since the place is self-service, I don't know what customer service the other reviews are referring to. I had a little chat with the cleaning lady, and she was totally nice. The launderette is not busy and there are chairs and benches where you can sit and wait. There is a machine for changing bills to quarters, but I heard that it sometimes is out of order, so it is safest to stock up on 2,5$-3$ in quarters before coming here. To me it seems very affordable that you can wash and dry your laundry for less than 3$, in about an hour for both operations. The detergent vending machine is out of order, but there's a note saying that they have supplies next door. Anyway, I brought my own detergent. All in all, I do not recommend dismissing this place just because of the bad reviews, because in my opinion they misrepresent the launderette.

This laundromat is in absolutely appalling condition. I have been going there every week since the summer of 2013 and it has always been a little sketchy but back then at least someone was attempting to make it halfway serviceable. I am at my wit's end now, though. Currently I'm waiting for a washing machine to at least finish filling with water and spin my clothes so I can take them home and hang them up to dry. I have been waiting over two hours now. TWO. HOURS. Just for a machine to fill with water. This is the SECOND week in a row something similar has happened to me on three separate washers. I am done. DON'T go here, they aren't even trying anymore.

Terrible customer service. Lost an article of clothing for about three weeks, and after finally locating it, still required I pay for the cleaning. Mistakes happen, but don't make your customers pay for your mistakes. Also made no attempts at removing a stain I asked to have removed and I still payed for it. Will not be taking my clothes here anymore.

DO NOT go here for alterations! I've used Valley Cleaners for dry cleaning with no problem so I thought I would try out their alterations. I am a short person - lots of alterations and usually go to Christiansburg. This would be more convenient. Bad idea! I purposely chose to bring something easy and similar to what I've had altered before: shorten a summer top (light material with a little stretch, kind of like a t-shirt). First of all they charged twice as much as the other place (no exaggeration)! But when I walked out and looked at the hem, I was flabbergasted!! How could they possibly call this a professional alteration?? There were two extremely uneven lines of stitching and the tension was totally off, so the stitching all scraggly. I wanted my money back and said I would take it elsewhere - did NOT want them redoing it. The counter person needed the manager's approval, so I left. When I went back, the manager had come, taken the shirt to redo it!! GRRRRR..... Finally got it back. Better, but still looks bad. Tension is almost good. The two lines of sewing are even. But the thread is too dark. It's not sewn with the "stretch stitch", and not finished on the back like a knit garment should be. The way it is sewn makes the hem stand out and look puckery. And it doesn't look really even. NOT A PROFESSIONAL ALTERATION!! REALLY, Valley Cleaners?????????? You have ruined my shirt!! I could have done better myself. Now that I have vented, it's going to Goodwill, or maybe just the trash. Lesson learned. But I'm passing it on!!
