Story

Located in Alamosa, Colorado, the Valley Food Cooperative has been providing the San Luis Valley and surrounding region with high quality health food and supplements for more than 30 years. We stock a variety of organic products, including fruits and vegetables, meats, processed foods, bulk foods, dairy items, and more!

The Valley Food Cooperative also has the largest selection of supplements and holistic products in the San Luis Valley, and our new store (same location) now offers even greater variety. In addition to added floor-space and inventory, the Valley Food Cooperative now provides fresh, organic soups, sandwiches, and coffee. We also have a large seating area to relax and enjoy your food.

The Valley Food Co-Op is your best bet in the San Luis Valley for organic and local food options. Yes, it's not like your Food Co-Op in a big city, but it's a huge asset that we've got. I have been a member for the past two years and shop there monthly. The food is great and the staff are helpful. And the discounts are great when you're a member. Give it a try to help support a local co-op and support food justice.

unfriendly staff, MANY expired items, slightly overpriced for its location,  poor selection of products. they advertise having fresh and local products but there was barely any produce in the store besides kale.

I love co-ops and encourage everyone to support them, just be careful at this one with buying bad food.  I have come home with rancid nuts, popcorn, and fruit, potatoes and beans that must have been old because they wouldn't even cook, some just stayed rock hard.  If more people shop there I'm sure this problem would resolve itself (as things wouldn't sit in the bulk bins or on the shelf as long), but for now pay attention to the dates on the food.  When I asked for a fresh bag of potatoes I was told I had to bring the bad ones in, but they were bad and I live 45 mins away, so I had thrown them away.  There was no manager on site to resolve this issue.

I LOVE this budding little health food store and am very grateful for it ! I do 95% of my grocery shopping there. The staff is helpful and informed.
