Story

Velo, a mixed cuisine restaurant, located just off the main strip of downtown Nyack, offers a provocative menu. Serving exceptional food and wine including up to twenty wines by the glass, menu items are completely house-made including all pastas and desserts. The atmosphere is bustling and city like, yet cozy. At Velo you will receive first class service and a menu crafted to rouse your senses.

Since opening in May 2008, Velo has already earned a reputation as the finest restaurant in Rockland County, winning 2009 Metromix Hudson Valley Restaurant of the Year. Velo has consistently been given top ratings by ZAGATS, Rockland Magazine, and the New York Journal News.

I have been to Velo several times and always had an attentive service and food was always great. I was there last night and in all truth I was disappointed. The Halibut special was flavorless. The fish was fresh but the combination of what came with it was flat and not inspiring at all. Tasteless. The gluten free pizza was a nice addition to the menu but my favorite dish the mussels came with very little sauce than usual. Why I didn't send back? Well...first they were busy and I couldn't make an eye contact with anyone and last I don't like to send back and wait again for it. It was late. It will be while before I return.

Love love love. I am SUCH a picky eater and this restaurant alone has broadened my palette immensely. Here I've tried mussels, rabbit, wild mushroom, lentils, among other things and absolutely loved every dish. They won't let you swap out anything in their dishes and they are totally correct in doing so. Every flavor in each dish is perfectly combined. The staff and manager are so friendly, knowledgeable about every dish, and provide excellent service. I have come twice and will absolutely be back again.

The steamed clams are excellent w a delicious Smokey flavor. Wine pairing was great!

Excellent people and exquisite food! Try the cauliflower and short ribs, the staff will undoubtedly recommend a choice wine pairing to complete the great experience.

Never disappoints. The cauliflower appetizer is out of this world as well as Sunday meatballs. Artic char and Lamb were incredibly tasty. If you go...ask for Kervin.
