Dr. Alwen and his staff go out of their way to find the proper care for our pets. They were very helpful when we brought a particularly ill cat with us when we moved here. Always right on target with a diagnosis and our cats are well cared for.

I have a really old dog. We have gone there for years. It seems as though they just want to keep my old dog alive. Her body has been through so much with all of these problems , We are in there mthly now. A bill of $400. each time With new labs and new pills each mth. I guess it Helps makes someone's house payment there. When I ask about putting her down they tell me she can last like this for a few more years.....WHAT ! OH YAEH they have a house payment to make and my dog is part of the mthly plan. So I took my dog to another vet and they told me she did not have to suffer anymore.

I have an older Jack Russell, Elvis, and as he has aged, he has gotten himself in more trouble. One of his back feet got stepped on by a horse and I thought he might lose the foot. Dr. Alwen somehow got that jigsaw puzzle back together and after a few months of recovery, his foot is usable. That is a good thing, because recently Elvis broke his front paw. If Dr. Alwen hadn't saved his back foot, I might have been faced with a tough decision. Because Elvis has 3 usable legs, all Dr. Alwen had to do was set and splint his front paw, and we just have to let it heal for a couple of months.....The staff is excellent.

They were awesome! My dog had a huge cut in his paw. They saw him quickly and fixed him up. They are very nice and made every effort to get him fixed up and the cost was very reasonable in comparison to some vets I have used. I will certainly go back.

Ive thought a long time about writing this review. But I feel I need to share my experience to help other people make an educated decision. My 12 lb chihuahua had surgery for luxating patellas in both legs. There are so many things I would do differently, and ultimately it is my dog that is paying the consequence. First of all-Never again would I allow a vet to do any surgery on two legs at one time. As a pet owner I should have done more research about bilateral surgery. At the pre-op I was told the surgery was fairly routine and he had good prognosis. They recommended doing the surgery on both legs at the same time. I questioned this briefly but I was told that it would be fine and was not an issue in small dogs. I took the advice. When I picked my dog up from surgery I was told that the surgery on one leg in particularwas much more difficult than expected. I was told that due to his severe poor confirmation that things did not go as planned . I'm no surgeon, but shouldn't you know what you're getting into and plan accordingly from the X-rays before you open up his leg? Anyways, I followed all instructions kept my dog completely confined to a crate and only out to potty, leashed. At the 2 week checkup X-rays were taken and they revealed the less severe of the two legs was a failed surgery. I was frustrated bc the first two weeks he was really sore, the stitches had just healed, and he had just finished his antibiotics. but I knew it needed to be fixed. The vet did another surgery. Again, two more weeks of strict confinement, more pills, soreness. Again, Two weeks later at checkup more x rays were taken, revealing the surgery on the other leg had also failed. At this point I was really concerned and questioning my decision. My poor dog had undergone 3 surgeries in 4 weeks, and they were recommending another. My gut told me that I could not put him through another surgery without taking him elsewhere to get a Second opinion. I was advised to not let another surgery be performed at this time. And to let the leg heal for a month then come back for x-rays and reevaluation. One month later, a completely different surgery was recommended to stabilize the leg and also repair a torn cruciate ligament. Not sure when the cruciate tear happened, possibly the result of bilateral surgery? Or was it there all along and not noticed? Those are my questions not something I was told. Long story short-I should've done more research. I never should have let someone perform a bilateral leg surgery on my dog. At this point the one leg is really unstable. I am saving money for him to be able to have another surgery more suited to his confirmation and to repair the torn cruciate as well. I commend the staff for all being so caring and supportive.
