The Welch Motel was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful once we realized our window was stuck in an "open" position (while it was definitely too cold to leave open all night).

I reserved two nights! Unfortunately I was in an accident and couldn't make it to the motel! Unfortunately for me i didn't call them right away so they charged my account for both nights! I called them the second day and the person that answers the phone obviously middle eastern didn't hesitate to take the money even when i practically begged him not to! I spent all my money getting home and now my account is overdrawn because of the motel charge! I will never go there again EVER!!

We loved this place and happened on it by accident. We usually book with Super 8 and they were full. So I was looking for something reasonable, retro and with good reviews. I called in the very early AM to book my reservation for the first time and spoke to a lovely person named "Nick". He was warm, friendly and courteous considering the hour of the very early morning. The reservation was booked and our dog went with us. The price was very reasonable. I was curious what the catch might be?? We got to the room and it is humble 70's retro, but had all the conveniences. Very clean room, nice Cable TV with HBO,  really strong Wi-Fi signal, refrigerator and microwave. The bed was so comfortable. I slept like a baby. We ended up staying two nights. There are several grassy areas to take your pets when they need to go out. All in all it was a great experience and we have abandoned the over priced Super 8 for this wonderful diamond in the rough. We are in the area often and this is our new place to stay. Nick and the other staff are the very best and kindest you will meet. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a great place to stay at an affordable price! Thank you!

Microwave didn't work. After a night of no sleep I figured maybe an instant oatmeal would be nice. Denied, the microwave did not work. I did see that the outlet was grossly over loaded to the point of fire hazard using a power stick. 

Fridge was so loud you could not sleep. It was so loud as to be a practical joke. What's more is the stuff I put in it had no chance of staying cold.

The interior door to the adjacent unit would not latch or even close. No matter how I tried I could not get it even close to latching. Making the room unsecure.

Room smelt like a musty barn. It says out front like Grandma's. It is, everything dated, damaged, and musty.

One channel on the TV. It says that there was cable. More specifically, HBO. But alas there was only one channel. Who knew that there was a special hell like game show network.

Towel rod was ripped from wall. One anchor was there the other was missing. Kind of like someone didn't even care.

WIFI was pathetic. Dial up would have been faster. The password was "godisgreat" . It was more like non existent. 

Carpet was sticky in the corner by the passage for to the other unit. Smelly like booze.

Heat did not work correctly. They knew it didn't work. That's why they provided a rather unsafe space heater.

Front storm door was damaged and would not close correctly. I am sure they try to bill each guest for this on each visit.

Staff was rude and unaccommodating. I would like to say this guy was a jerk.

Staff was preoccupied with their personal phone. Couldn't even be bothered to acknowledge the guest standing in the lobby (if that is what you call it).

Lobby coffee was at least 24 hours old. I observed the coffee four times in 24 hours at exactly the same level and with the same debris around the pot. Surely unsafe to drink. 

Adjacent units smoke alarm chirped all night and was still going strong when I left. This is so much fun to try to sleep to. It's a good thing that guy went elsewhere to cut his drugs. I saw the room open after he left.

Pillows were the smallest I have ever seen. Airline pillows are bigger.

Looked like it was decorated with a rummage sale. I can understand the whole con of relabeling a place like this as "like Grandma's" to make you feel like you are getting something special. You are not. You are still renting a rummage sale storage unit to sleep in.

Shower faucet dripped all night and was loud. ALL DAMN NIGHT!!

Refused my early check in. Forced to sleep in car for 12 hours in bad weather while sick. I slept better in my car in a wayside in bad weather than I did in this room. This one was so much damn fun it should have been the first on my list. He had room vacancies and ten hours to my check in. I suppose those red light specials were more important. Actually tried to get me to pay for two nights so I could get my requested early check in.

Whole roll of duct tape was used to install window AC unit. Might have even been structural.

Toilet seat hardware missing.

One and I do mean one outlet for a guest to use. You had to choose between charging your device or heat, but not both.

Bathroom outlet which is NOT a GFCI! HAD BURN MARKS ON IT. Nice way to die. This outlet was about ten niches from the sink.

In the end if I had the money, I would buy this place just to knock it down. I stay in hotels/motels about 125 times a year. I work in the industry. I know how hotels should be run. This is not it. 27 rooms here and not a one worth half the rate charged. I would not stay here again on a bet. Staying here should be viewed as punishment.

Sleeping in your car should be viewed as viable alternative to this place.
